Week 31 - Version 2.1.5!
🕑 Added 2018-08-06 10:35:39 +0000 UTC Some of you might have seen my livestream that shortly followed the going-live of the latest Platformer episoder. We checked out a bunch of the changes to GMS2 in the newest update. Go check out the footage of that stream here. Most excitingly for me, new collision functions have been added that allow you to return a *list* of collisions rather than just the ID of the first collision found.
Now functionally this could be done before but the new functions are incredibly convenient, faster than previous methods and also allow the return of the list in order of distance.
Also in this version, the GUI has been changed to default to the size of the application surface instead of the display. Rendering the beginning of my latest platformer episode out of date less than 24 hours after it was uploaded. 🙃
The techniques are still relevant and important however!
This week I'll be working on episode 23 but if somehow I find time I'd like to do a quick video showcasing very simply how to use these new collision functions. Quick video is sort of oxymoronic and never usually happens, but I'd like to nontheless. We'll see how it goes.
