London GameMaker Meetup + Updates
🕑 Added 2017-09-21 13:26:50 +0000 UTC So on Tuesday night this week I went to the very first GameMaker Meetup, hosted by Quang of AsobiTech (MaoMao Castle), Juju Adams and Jupiter Hadley in London!
Talks were given by Jupiter, JuJu Adams of community work & Hyper Light Drifter fame and Russel Kay from YoYo Games. I've recorded the lot (you can even see my camera on its tripod right there ^) so I'm going to spend some time editing these together so I can share the talks with everyone. Depending how we want to go about publishing this, these videos might be my friday YouTube upload.
Monday was spent on Tribal Tension as usual and Wednesday was spent travelling home (and also finally getting a haircut >_>) so I'll be honest, not much work has gotten done on the slopes tutorial. There's a reason I didn't promise it for this week! I'm also in touch with YoYo Games about maybe doing some freelance work for them. I don't want to leave you all hanging on the slopes video for too long but big videos can sometimes simply take a long time and interruptions do happen. As I said last time though I'm pretty happy with where it's going and I hope the final result will be worth the wait.
Back on the meetup though, this was a really cool event and they're planning to make them monthly! Follow GMMeetup on Twitter for more info. It was good to put faces to some names and chat GameMaker for an evening, many of us were there until the bar closed!

Just finished watching the "GMMeetup #1 - Russell Kay talks about GameMaker Studio 2" video--and thank you for posting it, despite the sound challenges. Thanks also for putting the slides of his lists up on the screen. Actually, my main problem with the audio was Mr. Kay's accent and sometimes rapid-fire delivery. I turned on closed captioning to see if that would help, and it was quite humorous: "I'm us again CTO your game so...compiler me later and I'll stab you...I've written babies intimiately that laminate Ilona that sort of stuff...I'm ready to give you business very fast and gave me Parliament....how many people views giving shi-doodle.." etc. : ]
