I wonder if the son always had these feelings for his dad, but just never chose to explore them or thought it was even an option. Same goes for the dad.

I'm glad that they both said what they were thinking, because it's a pretty fair match for what I was thinking, on both counts. Second: The heat level just went up, because this means he was already hoping for something to happen well before they arrived at at the sauna. It may be the "wrong" sauna, but I'm thinking they found their way to the right place.
