2020.09.23 Ready's Ramblings Episode 017
🕑 Added 2020-09-23 10:48:51 +0000 UTCHello all and I hope this message finds you well! Haven’t had a rambling in a while and felt it was past due… so here I go.
I’m compelled again hand each and every one of you a tremendous thank you for all your support in 2020. What a freaking crazy, weird and difficult year it’s been for many of us. I know my friends and fans are from all parts of the globe and the pandemic has surely affected all of us in one way or another. My hope is you and your loved ones are well. For those in a difficult or dire time, I hope your troubles pass quickly and without incident.
Something on my mind lately is the future. Mine, yours, everyone’s. As you know, your ole pal Ready is what you call an Optimist with a capital “O”. What that means is I love redemption arcs, comeback stories and pulling victory from the jaws of defeat. A lot of us are probably seeing a bit of anger, frustration and unease in the world. If you aren’t then awesome. If you are, I want you to believe me when I say things will (and are) going to get better. It won’t be any official decree by a church, a government or some higher power that turns things around. It will be you, me and all the rest of us on this planet pulling each other up.
I know it sounds corny but things like a smile, a small wave or even introducing yourself to a new person adds to the overall goodwill of the planet. You can make a difference! Any small contribution has an effect on the overall tone of the population. We feel better when we are good to one another and that engenders similar behavior in others. I’m not overstating things when I say each of us can be part of a movement to make the world a better place.
I imagine a few might read the above and think “Ready, what’s with all the jibber jabber about good will!? There are so many things going on BEYOND my control and they are FREEAKING AWFUL!” You are correct, there are a LOT of things beyond our control but we ARE in control of our thoughts and actions. We can choose to do small but meaningful things in our daily lives to not only improve our lot but help others improve theirs.
Please understand - I am not saying you can chant your way out of a bad time or wish away things like the pandemic. That won’t happen. What you can do is be the BEST you that YOU can be. Be true to yourself and help others when you REASONABLY can. That’s a life lesson from ole Ready and I assure you it’s hard earned.
Get your sleep, treat yourself right and give yourself a little present every now and then. You deserve it. Then, get on out there! If you are running around and see an opportunity to smile, wave or even meet a new person – give THAT a try. We’re all here together and there is nothing more precious than the relationships we make during our lives.
Enjoy and take care!
