In one of the dubs JiJi spoke instead of meowed right at the end (the one a friend showed me on VHS), so despite what the director said I chose to interpret it as him talking again once the magical block was gone. I just enjoy it more thinking that while she's less reliant on him they can still communicate. Glad you enjoyed this one, it is my most rewatched for helping me when I'm experiencing creative, academic, or career blocks. Helps me not feel bad/alone when inspiration leaves.
