🕑 Added 2018-02-17 21:16:43 +0000 UTCSo, my recent art block in the beginning of this month isn't over yet. I don't want to draw... or rather I don't want to start drawing any new pictures. And this very page might be one of the reasons.
I always had a "quality over quantity" mindset when it comes to drawing. Eventually, color rendering became my strongest skill, but at a cost of being not as good in other aspects of art. Anatomy skill, ideas, quick sketches - all of this requires a lot of practice. Which I didn't have because I wanted literally EVERY picture to be fully rendered and colored in a high resolution (resulting in only few pictures per month). Everything more sketchy was (and still is) perceived by me as "unworthy" and "bad", resulting in spending time only on "fully colored" pictures. I understand that this mindset only harms me, my art and my further development as an artist. I want to break this awful habit by devoting less time to mechanical rendering and more to sketching and rough coloring.
Now this is the moment when another bad trait of mine comes into play - fear of being rejected. Over the years my watchers (and now patrons) got used to my fully rendered art as the only kind of art I do. I have this subconscious fear that I will lose your support if I'll switch out of my usual way of drawing and, say, won't provide at least 4 hi-res pictures per month (a rule for myself I don't dare to break). Add to this my mindset "if my art didn't took 8+ hours and isn't in Hi-res then it's bad" and you'll see the cage I've trapped myself into.
Now I ask you to help me. Tell me you aren't here just for my mechanical coloring skill. Tell me if you'd rather see me experimenting with styles and techniques, even if it comes at a cost of my "usual" style of drawing and may be not as good (because of the gaps in said skills I need to improve).
As of rewards, with less Hi-res art I can only offer more polls and early access. I really need to lift this weight of responsibility off my shoulders so I can start fighting with tyranny of perfectionism. Please tell me what you think guys...
TL;DR: are you ok if I'll put practicing over completing Hi-res arts?

As with everybody else up above, I love your high-res artwork, but if you put out more art that is not as high res but it's something you want to do, I'm down for that. I rather you have fun with what you do than to burn out early, you know? I'm glad you at least asked our opinion too, shows that you care about your patrons and makes me want to stay on even more. Keep up the good work!
I agree with both of these guys. I love your artwork in general, and seeing any of it is superb. If you want to try new stuff with more simple drawings that's definitely something i'll stick around for. :D Keep up the fantastic work!

I personally thought of your patreon as a tip jar. In other words, I'm just giving a little bit to say I like what you're doing. I don't demand or expect a particular quantity of artwork. As long as there's some kind activity, even just to keep us up to date, I'll stay on

Experiment! I'm happy to pay to see an artist improve doing what they WANT to do, not what they believe they HAVE to do! *throws more money*

You don’t have to do 4 hi-res images a month. If it means furthering your own skills and bettering yourself, reducing the number of completed images might be better. Most artists might do one or two a month, and even reducing to 3 will still have you ahead of the game AND give you some extra time to experiment. If you think you can use the extra time to further your skills, then a slight reduction might actually be good!

Plenty of artists do less than 4 hi res pictures a month, even without also posting sketches and other things. You're fine.

While I do love your full color hi res images, don't force yourself to do only those on my account, do something new and I will surely love it. And if that means fewer full color hi res images, the I will still be your patron.

Go ahead and practice and experiment if needed, sometimes a change of pace is a good chance to try something new.
