It's Friday and time to review the events of the past week!
💠 GRAND UTOPIA
🔰 Pierre-sur-Fier
The mapping continues on Grand Utopia with the laying of the first roads and buildings in Pierre-sur-Fier! This village will be located at the end of the Dog's Bay, at the mouth of a small river called the Fier.
Well, I have to admit that it's a bit illogical because, originally, the Fier was the river that runs through Saint-Angel. I gave a lot of thought to the location of Pierre-sur-Fier. Ideally, it should have been along the new stretch of the D31 that runs alongside the river, but in the end I opted to move the village to the bay, because otherwise it would have been too close to Saint-Angel, and there's no point in having two towns stuck together in the middle of the countryside.
So, regarding the duplication of the names of these two rivers, I hope you'll forgive me for this lack of realism. 😔
🔰 Departmental road 31
The extension of the D 31 is well underway. The section along the river is now complete, as is the section leading down from the mountains to the plains at Dog's Bay level, near Chalezeule.
For this route, I'll have to create a large new section. It will run north along the bay to Jean-du-Bartail. And I'm thinking of creating a spur to access Andréa as well. Maybe, I'm not sure yet 🙄
🔰 Departmental road 9
Finally, this week saw the creation of the D9 route. This road, which currently links Saint-Flour, Chambret and Chalezeule, will be extended until it reaches Pierre-sur-Fier (and gradually Gebbbe-du-Montargis). Once again, I'm forecasting a very winding stretch of road, due to the mountainous nature of the area 😄
💠 MORE AMERICAN CITIES
Colorado has made great strides this week, with the addition of 19 new towns! Here's the list of new towns made playable this week:
- Limon
- Kit Carson
- Eads
- Cheyenne Wells
- Granada
- Sheridan Lake
- Aurora
- La Junta
- Trinidad

🔰 New mod for GU : Default Road Colors
Finally, I completely forgot to tell you about this new mod for Grand Utopia in my report last week. I've quickly created a small mod that brings back the golden color of discovered roads. It was pointed out to me that it could be difficult to differentiate between discovered and undiscovered cities due to the gray and white colors used by default on GU.
The add-on is available here on TruckyMods for free !

Nous sommes vendredi et il est temps de passer en revue les événements de la semaine passée !
💠 GRAND UTOPIA
🔰 Pierre-sur-Fier
Le mapping continue sur Grand Utopia avec la pose des premières routes et des premiers bâtiments du côté de Pierre-sur-Fier ! Ce village sera situé au fond de la baie du Chien sur l'embouchure d'une petite rivière qui s'appellera donc le Fier.
Bon, il faut avouer que du coup, c'est un peu illogique car, à la base, le Fier c'était la rivière qui traverse Saint-Angel. J'ai beaucoup réfléchi à l'emplacement de Pierre-sur-Fier. Idéalement, il aurait fallu qu'il soit le long de la nouvelle portion de la D31 qui longe la rivière mais j'ai finalement opté pour décaler le village au niveau de la baie car sinon il aurait été trop proche de Saint-Angel et cela n'a pas vraiment d'intérêt d'avoir deux villes collées l'une à l'autre en pleine campagne.
Donc concernant le doublon au niveau du nom de ces deux rivières, j'espère que vous me pardonnerez ce manque de réalisme 😔
🔰 Route départementale 31
L'extension de la RD 31 suit son cours. La partie longeant la rivière est totalement terminée, comme celle permettant de redescendre de la montagne pour regagner les plaines au niveau de la baie du Chien, à proximité de Chalezeule.
Pour cette route, il me restera une nouvelle grande partie à créer. Elle remontera vers le nord en longeant la baie pour atteindre Jean-du-Bartail. Et je pense créer un embranchement pour accéder également à Andréa. À voir 🙄
🔰 Route départementale 9
Aussi, cette semaine le tracé de la D9 a été créé. Cette route, qui actuellement relie Saint-Flour, Chambret et Chalezeule, sera donc allongée jusqu'à Pierre-sur-Fier (puis à terme jusqu'à Gebbbe-du-Montargis). Une fois encore, je vous prévoie une portion de route bien sinueuse, région montagneuse oblige 😄
🔰 Nouveau mod pour GU : Default Road Colors
Enfin, j'ai complètement oublié de vous parler de ce nouveau mod pour Grand Utopia dans mon rapport de la semaine dernière. J'ai créé rapidement un petit mod qui permet de retrouver la couleur dorée des routes découvertes. On m'a fait remarqué qu'il pouvait être difficile de différencier les villes découvertes de celles non-découvertes en raison des couleurs grises et blanches utilisées par défaut sur GU.

Thank you for your suggestion, but a solution has already been found. The river passing through Saint-Angel will be named "Le Grand Fier" and the river passing through Pierre-sur-Fier "Le Petit Fier". 😄

About the Fier business: let's just assume that one is pronounced "Fi-eh" and the other "Fi-err" thus we have Pierre-sur-Fi-eh and St. Angel along the Fi-err. As in olden times writing didn't play much of a role people always knew which river was meant. And as there ARE two words in French spelled "fier", one pronounced "fi-eh" and the other "fi-err", easy to explain why the spelling is the same today.
