They say Apple changed the world with the iPhone but I reckon it was Google buying Android. If they didn't, the app store for non apple would be chaos and also probably each phone manufacturer with their own OS. With Google coming in and open sourcing their Android system, it really allowed phones to be the way they are today.

I do enjoy that they got the size of the screen exactly right and basically no mobile phone these days is a size that actually works for human hands

My favourite thing about the demo is that the units were basically held together by duck tape and prayer - whenever you see Steve taking a break from using the phone he's switching to another one as they would overheat like crazy and crash. And he had to do things on the phone in a very specific order or they would crash - neither the software or hardware was ready at all. Stuff like where he accidentally put a return line in that text message probably sent the engineers backstage into a cold sweat.
