To be fair, Irreversible is deliberately structured to induce nausea in its audience so it doesn't surprise me it saw some walkouts. Brilliant film, but a tough sit.

Lol yeah what I expect. The comments in the Hader video actually made me happy to see. Yeah I never trust film festival audiences based on the boos and the over the top standing ovations. Seems like a lofty bunch. Tbh all I give a shit about at Cannes is the fashion. One of my big yearly fashion events lol. I dont even pay attention to whats playing lol. Naturally it all comes across my radar eventually tho.

People tend to assume that those who attend Cannes are world-class cinephiles when more likely they’re not. They’re usually high-society douches who go to screenings because Cannes is such a celebrated event. Not to say that cinephiles wouldn’t get offended by Noe’s films, but they wouldn’t lose their minds the way these people did.
