He kind of was. It's too bad Hollywood kept banking on his charisma by starring him in lackluster projects. Not counting Shrek, I still think 48 HRS was the best film he ever did.

Jerry Goldsmith is soo underrated imo, check out the soundtrack of A Patch of Blue, really great. And Chinatown has such good score too

It's been so long since I've seen Mulan. Probably back in my teenage years when I was a die hard Eddie Murphy fan. Interesting that this was his first voice acting role in animation before Donkey.

Was never a fan of the songs much. Felt the score was far too good for everything else in the film personally

Definitely a lot of great songs like "Reflection," "I'll Make A Man Out of You" and "A Girl Worth Fighting For."

Totally agree. Love Jerry Goldsmith. I recently recommended that you check out Frankenheimer’s Seconds and another reason to is that it’s a very early Goldsmith score. Fantastic orchestral score and a really haunting piano theme.
