In a Lonely Place has one of the best Humphrey Bogart lines ever which sums up modern Hollywood in a nutshell so perfectly. "Everybody makes flops except you! You hadn't had one because you've made and remade the same picture for the past 20 years! You know what you are? You're a popcorn salesman!"

I am quite happy about the enthusiasm for both! American in Paris is one of my favorite films from a sentimental perspective, even though I really hate many things about it. In A Lonely Place, while not having the same sentimental impact on me from just a personal/nostalgic perspective....it's just such a masterpiece, and one that just grows and grows with each rewatch. I could watch it at any point. Really...could do that for both of them. Despite the tones being so so opposite.
