Depends how vulnerable they are to instinct. If he can't help but chase her, then she is in theory smaller and more manoeuvrable, and might trick him into a situation she can survive but he can't.
Only one real option, then. Courageously give yourself up in their place, and hope to heaven and hell that he keeps his word to not eat them as well.
