Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

jared Clarke

Awweee that Bertran Bonnello cameo

Harman Adi

So glad to hear that you had a powerful, moving film experience. I've been anticipating this movie as well. I'll see it when I can.

I knew about her parents but...I wanna know more about her intimate life. More about what got her where she is emotionally. I think she's interesting.

Tony Moro

Any possibility you might review movies that we've actually heard of? Lol

Bennett Oliver

I liked it a lot, too. I really liked how, underneath its shocking, graphic content, and despite the knowingly contrived circumstances, it was a poignant, strangely amorphous love story at its core, one that moved through barriers of gender and familial dynamics.

Bennett Oliver

Eh, don’t worry about the comment. Better you than the spam bot. For starters, both of her parents are doctors, which she has said has given her a fascination with bodies. She learned to have a clinically distant eye for the human body from them. Beyond that, I’m curious, too. I’ll certainly be looking out for her next film, whenever and whatever that may be.

I'm so sorry. My computer was lagging and I accidentally deleted your comment. So I'll answer here - Great comparison to Lisbeth. I actually think the main character looks a lot like Julia Ducourneau herself. She's quite pretty but has slight androgynous look mixed with the slight masculine "edge" while maintaining what is feminine, along with the black jeans and the tats (I include myself in that stereotype). I would love to know Julia and what she has been through in her life to create the way she does. I think we'd have a lot to discuss.

Sure, I'd say so. I don't think there's a lot of rhyme or reason to things in the film from a logical standpoint. And that first scene with the car was the first real taste of that surreal split from the pastiche. Thought the whole film was so bold. It really touched me emotionally. Something I needed on a personal level, I think.

Deepfocuslens

I'll try and get it out ASAP. Ideally on Monday.

Deepfocuslens

Yes! Loved it. It was such an unexpected surprise.

Ian

How? Where? I can’t find it streaming anywhere. Did you see it a theater? I NEED to see this one…

Tyler Shobe

Yay! I'm so glad. I know it takes a lot for you to like a modern movie but after seeing this a couple weeks ago, I had a feeling this would finally impress you. I've been dying to go back and see it again and share it with some people.

Jim Barnes

There was definitely some banging.

janica alden

YES! A TRUE BANGER. I’ve been waiting for you to review TITANE.

Bennett Oliver

Last comment: I don’t want to spoil anything, but would you say that what happens to Alexia involving the car qualifies as magical realism? Someone seriously asked me that question and I had to laugh because I couldn’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t be.

Bennett Oliver

Favorite line: “How many of you are there in this house?”

Jim Barnes

It was an experience. I’m still thinking about what exactly I think about it. But I told the friend I saw it with, “When I see a French art film, give me a god damn French art film.” And it definitely did that. I liked Raw as well. Definitely an exciting new director.

Tony Moro

I'm not seeing that film! I'm just about.........dune with Hollywood now.
