🕑 Added 2021-02-07 19:41:55 +0000 UTCXD I know this is a deeply relevant post and all, but I saw Gothika starring Halle Berry, the other day and I had many opinions. Anyone else seen it? I will say this...I preferred it to Malcolm and Marie. Because at least Gothika knows what it is and didn't pretend to be anything more. Though...it's message I found to be very misguided, disturbing, and completely contradictory.

Though I saw Gothika ages ago, I trust your writing. It's easy to prefer it over Malcolm & Marie. Hope you will have more pleasant stuff to review in future.

Yeah. I've seen Patch Adams with Robin Williams so I know what that feels like. It's definitely a toss up with which I hate more for sure. I don't tend to laugh at Gothika like movies though. They just irritate me especially if they have talent behind it.

Funny you say that. Because I find pretentious works that are too self-aware a lot less tolerable. Gothika is a goddamn mess, but at least it knows what it is and I can laugh at it. With snobby films parading themselves as art, I get pretty disgusted.

I don't know. Movies like this are worse in some ways. I know pretentious works can be insulting but I find movies that don't even try to be good and are totally aware of it without caring about the audience's intelligence is worse. I tend to get more angry at those kinds of films.

I loved Gothika ! Great film :D Her waking up in the mental hospital.. gave me a Shutter Island vibe. Haven't seen Malcolm and Marie yet unfortunately; but, I'll be checking your review on it and watching it soon, lots of talk about it.
