APRIL UPDATE 2/2 I WAS BORN TO WORK RETAIL/ Koishi Animation Trailer!
🕑 Added 2024-04-30 07:16:24 +0000 UTCHI!!!!Welcome to the bimonthly update!! Lemme show you all what I've been working on for the past month.
So this update's a bit special, cause this is a two parter with both IWBTWR and the Koishi Project. Due to the Koishi Project trailer currently finishing up production. I thought it would be a good idea to showcase it here first before the next monthly update arrives.
And as said before, watch out for a post later on about profile icons and credits for the trailer! I'm going to be hand animating the credits in a couple of days and will need that information to showcase at the end of the trailer!!
IWBTWR
Currently building more on the manager arc! Later on I'm going to introduce more stakes in the story. Especially for Zoey and Jenny in particular.
I had some plans for the manager, where he goes on a company retreat with multiple other of his peers and te CEO of the company himself.
Please tell me what you all think about the twins! I wanted the manager to have some reason to stress about the in store promotion and thought that giving him some competition would be a really cool way of giving the manager his own character arc.
It's also really fun to write about corporate mumbo jumbo sometimes.
So current plans are
Build upon the manager's arc as the overall story for this current chapter
Give Jenny a narritive reason to exist right now
Jenny feels like she's serving no particular purpose right now. Asides from the self help arc I have planned for her, she seems like a side character in her own comic surrounded by much more interesting and mysetious characters. I have to start building something for her or she's going to fall off the story
Zoey loose ends and tying up the previous arc
There are consequences for Zoey's actions. Including almost killing a goldfish. Which in my eyes is the worst thing you can do in this story as a plot device. She has to pay for what she was considering doing. This is a good way to introduce an antagonist who will abuse this power.
Welp. That's a lot. However I got my first steps in with the m,anager arc! So we'll see how it goes. See you guys in the next chapter!
Koishi Project
Animations finalized. Just need to composit it with some extra enviromental effects and the credits for the animation! I also need to get sound for it and my sound designer is hard at work creating a new track + sound effects!
Please tell me what you think about the trailer so far! This is going to be the first time the Koishi project is getting posted on Youtube as a video!
That's it this month!! See you all soon with the credits post! Thank you for you support again :D

The thing I love about IWBTWR is that is really captures the stress and predicament of being caught up in the grind of a company much larger than yourself, and how that can eat away at your mental health and purpose in life. Originally I thought that the comic would just focus on the people at the very bottom (Jenny), with the manager as an antagonist who represented the company's authority over her, but I love that you're focusing on the manager as more than that. The reality for managers is that while their job is to enforce whatever the chain of command wants, the managers themselves are just workers at the end of the day too, and get exploited much like any other worker. They're a sort of "contradictory class" of workers, and I love seeing that explored here. That said, for Jenny, I imagine her escape from retail is to own her own fish shop, like she dreams. But retail doesn't want her to escape, so there's always something worth focusing on with that inherent conflict. Maybe she can't save enough money. Maybe her coworkers don't show any real support for her. Maybe her boss gets worried (due to the new competition) and sabotages her efforts to leave the company to start her own. There's plenty of ways to explore this kind of idea. I'm excited to see what you decide to do with it. Also very excited to see the Kioshi trailer. Wonderful stuff as always!
