Directed by James Gunn, the special brings the Guardians together in a festive adventure as they attempt to bring some Christmas cheer to Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), who’s feeling down about being far from Earth during the holiday season. Their solution? Kidnap Kevin Bacon. Yes, the Kevin Bacon.
The special is a fun blend of humor, action, and surprisingly touching moments, with Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) taking center stage in their chaotic and hilarious mission to deliver the ultimate Christmas gift. The Guardians’ trademark banter and lovable misfit energy shine throughout, and the addition of holiday music and decorations gives the whole thing a warm, nostalgic vibe.
At its core, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is about family, found or otherwise, and the lengths we go to for the people we care about. It’s a charming, lighthearted treat that delivers plenty of laughs, a dose of holiday spirit, and a reminder that even in a galaxy far, far away, the holidays are about connection and joy.
