🕑 Added 2023-03-10 09:49:38 +0000 UTCHey Squad, Just wanted to give you guys an update on some big things that have been going on -
1st: There's been a bunch of things going in the background, but one of that has been taking so much of my time, is finding a super fast optimal way to set up objects from Blender to be texture ID'd rapidly so they can be painted on quickly in Substance Painter before exporting to Unreal - I've been trying out LOTS of different methods and workflows to see what works best. But, after hundreds of hours of testing, I think I've finally found the one that gives the best quality in the shortest amount of time - So, I've organized the texture ID's for the character as follows using the new workflow procedures. So, that's one BIG achievement that has happened, that probably nobody will even notice lol. Still, it's REALLY efficient, and fast so in the end, it will save A LOT of time when it comes to designing new characters.
2nd: I've decided to shorten the current series so we can dive into Unreal a little early - I'll probably finish 2 or 3 more videos to wrap the series up, but immediately afterwards, we're gonna go full-steam-ahead hardcore into Unreal and figure the hell out of that software.
3rd: There are some major advancements in the AI world, and something that I think will become invaluable is learning how to train your own dataset with your own work. I haven't figure out how to do that yet, but I think it's going to be too important not learn as an Artist in the modern world. So, I do plan to make another instructional video walking people through the AI data Training process, for anyone wanting to know, (Once I figure it out lol)
4th: Since we're going deep into Unreal a bit sooner, and we're gonna be diving deep into training our own dataset with our own characters, I've decided I'll probably need a new PC, so I'm saving up for a set-up that can run 2 cards simultaneously, and my current machine frame really wasn't built to house more than 1, and as far as I can tell, it doesn't have space for the cooling system I would need to run 2 cards and the power source they would require anyway. So, yeah one of my goals this month is to get a new machine with dual card capabilities, and I'm hoping that will help with the AI training. I'm not really savy when it comes to building computers, so I was thinking about going to meta-PCs and see what they would recommend/offer, but yeah that's still a few weeks off so we'll cross that bridge when we get there -
So, lots going on right now, but by the end of the month, I'm fairly confident all these objectives will be completed and we'll be in the new territory we've been preparing for - Anyway, that's the news, I'm almost done with the next video, so I'll see ya there!
