I wasn’t even aware that one of the Sanderson Sisters was named Winifred before Winifred Pale was named. (She was named after Wendy Torrence of The Shining.)

Exactly! I could see the vision (even if I was already in my 40s) when I first saw it. Sadly, I don’t think the actors had the comedic chops for the type of comedy in the script. It felt like they intended for a Three Stooges/Marx Brothers kind of vibe, but it never paid off. Unless you really got a hankering to see SJP go “amuck amuck amuck” a whole bunch. (And just to be clear, I DO NOT think that women aren’t funny. I just don’t think this movie is.)

I will say this with confidence. The Sanderson Sisters are a better in 'idea' than in 'execution'. They can be fun and darkly entertaining characters, and have amusing moments, but the version of the Sandersons I liked the most are the child versions from the 2nd movie, and I didn't even like the rest of that movie very much. I wanted to see more 'flashback' Sandersons.
