Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene IV
🕑 Added 2024-08-15 15:03:58 +0000 UTCIt's about time we tackled this timeless synthesizer classic :) As is so often the case there is more to this drum pattern than first meets the eye (or ear). Join us as we rebuild it from the ground up - including all the required vintage Mini Pops 7 drum sounds - even the Quijada!
Apart from the sounds this pattern features a lot of fun techniques like triplets, tempo multipliers and pattern length. If you want to brush up on these topics then check out the Drum Machine 101 book.
If you don't have a Syntakt don't worry, many of the techniques are applicable to other machines and we attached a sample pack to this post for you (the instrument levels in the WAV files are already matched to those in the video).
Here's a link to our drum pattern transcription of Oxygene IV (downloadable PDF).
In case you're interested in the Syntakt project file and the individual sound presets we'll export and upload them for you in the upcoming days :)

This is kinda the first electronic music I ever heard - it was used as an intro theme to a TV show in the UK - so it has so many memories for me. I can't wait to watch this!
