Soft Cell - Tainted Love (Drum Pattern No. 117)

It's designed as a construction kit with different instrument variations that can be added to the base pattern. If you want a lower difficulty then only program those patterns that use swing instead of triplets. I would however recommend to use this as an easy opportunity to get familiar with triplet programming and tempo multipliers/scales. I've also added alternative pattern versions for Elektron sequencers that avoid triplet scales by using retrigs instead.
Do note that this transcription is based on the drums from the album version, not the music video. For the sound example I used CR-78 sounds and borrowed the Hand Clap from the 808 :)

Hi Thirsten! If you have a sequencer that doesn't support different tempo multipliers per instrument track then you'd have to convert the parts manually. In this case when converting from a 1x tempo multiplier with 66% swing to a 3/2x tempo multiplier without swing, you just wedge another empty step in before each even step (this is the triplet position that's unused by the triplet swing). For example: Rimshot 2 (1x 66% swing) - - X -|- - X -|- - X -|- X X X turns into: Rimshot 2 (3/2x, no swing) - - - X - -|- - - X - -|- - - X - -|- - X X - X| Sorry if this is a bit hard to read, Patreon doesn't offer a monospaced font in the comments. But it helps to copy it into a text editor :) I think I will include an example like this in the Drum Machine 101 book when I get to the "Pattern Scales & Tempo Multipliers" chapter.

Silly question: how do we use the RS 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and CP 1, 2, 3 patterns if trying to construct the triplet version? And how do we put it all together? Something like: Intro x 2, Base + RS 1, Base + RS 2, etc?

Thanks for the great work you do. Request - Can you program some old Ministry, preferably from Stigmata Era - inknow it could be difficult because a lot of it sounds like MPC retriggers on some sections, and delay polyrythms, or even Bauhaus?
