Just a little test.... R4
🕑 Added 2018-08-29 19:50:19 +0000 UTC I'm testing the 70 degree overhang, so I've redesigned the two rings (for the R4 at this moment). Basically rather than split the print so the 90 degree overhang prints separately, I've used a 70 degree overhang and combined the two rings. This appears to print without support whilst keeping the detail. Perfect!!! (It also means the body print can also be done this way). Next problem was how to print the flat plate which sits on top of the lazy susan. I've created a 45 degree lip and a ring which fits into this, happy days! (I will eventually key this so it an even easier fit). Finally the top of the ring has to have a reasonable edge to glue the dome onto. I've used another 45 degree overhang to give a flat surface which is also keyed to the dome and supports bolts to hold on / align. Overall with the R4 dome, this is a three print dome, the main bit, two rings and the lazy susan plate. Hi Ian, yes I intend to redo most of the domes for a simple print, one print including all panels, then it gives options. Apart from R2, most domes have little panel animation and cleaning / sanding would be much easier as a single print. Obviously the older models are all still available for those wanting more complexity.
Hi. I was just wondering if you would plan to create the standard R2 dome and top and lower rings in one piece as well at somestage.
