I've never had the chance to watch Lake Mungo, but I've watched and listened to a few commentaries on it. I could have sworn there was one last twist during the credits that showed that the family was actually being haunted by the spirit of the sister that died, but that she was tied to the house. House. I think there was a line earlier in the film about her not wanting to be alone, and the family moving away is actually making that fear come true.
