I have always had difficulty waking up, even when I was a young high school girl, but back then I at least had the decency to setup an alarm clock... Sleeping past midday was but a impossible dream I carried.
And now I'm casually fulfilling that dream. "I should get up..." This is definitely Emiya's fault. The big one of course, not the small one, or the one who's actually my sister... And geez, thinking of Sakura as an Emiya almost makes me giggle.
The energy given to me from such a pleasant thought was enough for me to actually get up as I wanted. In the end, through all the troubles and horrors, we somehow managed to reach a happy ending... Sakura did at least!
Why are all the men in the Clock Tower so trash!? Why can't I find a guy!? By the way, the problem is definitely not me, no matter how much Edelfelt says that I should stop asking my potential romantic partners how big their salary is on the first date.
Furthermore, I choose to ignore how I haven't had much success finding a partner in Fuyuki as well, even though I have now stayed in this city for close to a year. Welp, it's not like a happy ending needs to be a romantic one, my life is pretty amazing all things considered.
So I go through my routine with a smile on my face. It's a process I'm used too, and before long I'm sipping tea in the living room. "I guess I'll go bother them tonight... Actually, I will probably show up there before the sunset." I'm talking about the Emiya household of course.
Most of my time in Fuyuki is spent bothering them... The reasons for that are obvious. Sakura is my sister, spending time with her is precious. Shirou is... sort of like a brother at this point, a stupid younger brother who I definitely never had feelings for, and he also definitely didn't raise my standards for a man way too high.
Hideaki is my annoyingly adorable nephew, who somehow escaped the curse that is magecraft... Is it weird, that after seeing how he grew up, I'm kind of hoping my eventual heir is just going to give up on the art? Dad must be rolling on his grave.
I can't forget about Rider of course... It's always nice to get a glimpse of her body! That's right, Rin Tohsaka has accepted her bisexuality a long time ago, not that doubling my potential pool of partners has helped me get laid so far.
The Emiya household also has a frequent visitor with the name Taiga Fujimura. She was my teacher back in high school, and even today she never fails to... surprise me, with just her continued existence.
So, there's no way Rin Tohsaka, me, could just ignore that household. I grew up on an annoyingly quiet one, so visiting them feeds my heart in a way I can't quite describe. Eh? It's annoying to have a freeloader like me there?
I'll have you know that the only reason I'm here is Shirou. He's the one who suggested that I should take a break from the Clock Tower's politicking. Yep, and he definitely intended for that break to last an entire year.
Before long, I finish drinking my tea, I don't even realize how fast time passes. "Um... what now?" I guess I could pratice magecraft or something? It's like Zelretch always says, a day lost is a hundred steps back, and there's an eldritch monster behind me, I should move before he eats my soul.
Ah, I'm gonna choose to ignore my traumatic memories that were given to me courtesy of my teacher. I will also choose to ignore training in magecraft, I can do that during the night... Actually I'm planning on spending time with the Emiya's, so I can do that tomorrow.
Where did the Rin Tohsaka who had a strict schedule for everything go? I don't even exercise before bed anymore... I just sort of drink wine until I pass out. By the way, both Shirou and Sakura laughed when they heard that little tidbit, annoying couples and their synchronization...!
That said, if I'm not going to pratice magecraft, what will I do? My options are either drinking wine or going to the Emiya household... I'm going to the Emiya household and bringing wine with me. Genius Rin, just genius.
But as soon as I make that decision, I find myself staring at a black screen. "Um..." It's the TV I bought some years ago, when I was in the Clock Tower and would only visit my hometown a few times each year.
I think Hideaki was... five? Yeah, he was five years old when I noticed he really didn't care for coming here. It was only natural really, this place didn't have any kids for him to play with, and my talks with Shirou and Sakura definitely went over his head.
So in my efforts to become a cool aunt, I went and bought the most expensive TV I could find, along with the most expensive console and a few games... It goes without saying, but I never use that console, even if I sometimes do use the TV. My father would be livid from the fact that I brought something so modern to the Tohsaka home, and I'm sorry to him, but kids are just way too powerful.
Nowadays Hideaki isn't a young cute kid though. He's a young dumb teen, one who's starting to look like his father... He has good genes, that's for sure, he's quite the cat- he will grow up to be quite the catch, at least in the looks department.
The TV suddenly turns on, taking me out of my thoughts. "Dumbass technology...!" It actually gave me a heart attack! Ah, this is why I hate this type of stuff! Did it hear me speaking and assumed I wanted to watch it or something!?
On the bottom of the scream, I read some scary words... "Hacking!? Isn't that bad!?" Even someone like me knows what that means...! Don't tell me some guy is about to try and creep on me or something!
It was very bad.
After hearing the announcement from the TV, my jaw hits the floor. "W-what...?" That seemed like the actual Clock Tower. But surely that isn't... that can't be possible...! And there's also the fact that the girl was Sakura's spitting image...
Something enters my bounded field from the skies. And then another something. And then another something. It's far too much, it's sheer numbers break through whatever defenses I may have and...
I look to the window. "Shit." It really is raining mud, and it looks all too familiar to that thing I had to see and fight, all those years ago. "She really wasn't lying..." About some things at least, I can't verify everything she has said.
I take a deep breath and get up, at this point of my life I have even hunted Dead Apostles. I won't freak out over some crazy bitch who looks like my sister, even if she did mention the Moon Cell of all things...
That's right, the Moon Cell... That thing, probably a super computer of alien origin that is on the Moon for some unexplainable reason. I don't know much about it, not my style, but I do know a few mages have tried messing with it.
I rush to my phone, if BB's threat of destroying that type of stuff was false, or lacking, maybe I can then contact Lord El-Melloi II. He has the loyalty of way too many mages, so surely a few of them know how to deal with this?
My house's phone is pretty old, probably older than me, but it still works. Or at least it should, but... "She was telling the truth..." Okay, so no technology, I put the phone back in place. I still haven't confirmed everything she has said however...
So my next step should be going into the basement and looking for tools. I can already feel something moving on my bounded field too, even as it desperately tries fighting back, so I have to be quick.
I basically run to my workshop, while also being careful to not trip. Thankfully I'm actually fairly graceful...! The world might seriously be ending, I need to tone down my pride for a second.
Once I'm in, the first thing I do is... 'open' that chest. A gift from my master Zelretch, it has what it might be infinite space, using the power of the Kaleidoscope of course. It's something I could probably make myself nowadays, but while it would take me months of hark work, he can do it with a snap of his fingers.
There are a variety of things here, including that annoying Kaleidostick for example... But I'm here for a very specific thing, and old cellphone of mine that I pretty much never used. Though I don't know exactly what to use it for...
I take it out of the chest. "That is if this thing even survived BB... or the passage of time." I'm hoping it survived that girl because it was in such a weird place where space and time shouldn't affect it.
That said, this is a Flip Phone, and I didn't even check if it was working when I threw it in here, so... It could genuinely be dead. Opening it up, I try turning it on, but...
A sigh of defeat leaves my mouth. "Well, it's not like there are other people with time-space chests anyways." The phone isn't working, but I Imagine I wouldn't be able to call anyone even if it was.
What interests me is how the phone got destroyed. Was it broken already? Did it survive BB's technological rampage and then it got destroyed as soon as I took it from the chest? As soon as I tried turning it on?
I guess I can't confirm it either way, but I do put in my pockets. BB did say she would use them to contact us after all... Which means I normal should throw the cellphone away, she could be using it to watch me after all.
But I doubt it would change a thing, she's probably watching us all from the Moon Cell anyways, so I would rather stay informed. That thing is a bonafide supercomputer after all, it wouldn't even surprise me if they analyzed me, and talked with me using a 'Sakura Face' specifically to bother me. Obviously everybody else would get their own custom messages too...
The panties thing was weird though, why was she talking about showing them to someone...? Please have some common sense whoever you are!
Okay, I need to get my head back in the game! I can feel with my bounded field that something is... forming. "Next up is..." I open the chest again. I refuse to ever use that damn Kaleidostick, but there's some useful stuff here.
First I take a medallions from the chest. Immediately I pump my mana through it. "No reaction... No reaction!?" That's super worrying, since this is... a magical device made to contact a very specific person.
That person is Zelretch, and the fact that the medallion isn't working means one of three things. One, he's too busy to answer, that's plausible. Second, he has abandoned this world completely, deeming it a BAD END for humanity, and refusing to even observe it.
That's probably the second worst case scenario... The worst case scenario, the third option is... He died on the supposed destruction of the Clock Tower, this BB woman had enough resources to put down a True Magician who defeated a TYPE.
I don't even want to think about that, so I put the medallion around my neck, desperately hoping the first option is the correct one.
I take the final important object from the chest, that blade, the Jeweled Sword. It's not the original one, or the one made during the Grail War by Shirou, instead it's something I managed to put together a few years ago.
After that I close the chest and start rummaging around my workshop, collecting a few Gems. I can't contact the outside world, so I'll have to act by myself! Which means I have a few options...
First of all, I don't want to even think about the rest of the world, that's too big a ask for Rin Tohsaka. So instead I will think of Fuyuki... I have three paths, I think... Maybe four, but I don't really like the fourth one.
First is going to the Emiya household to help everyone... I discard that option as quickly as i think of it. Shirou is strong, and while Rider doesn't have enough mana to act as a full fledged servant... she is one still. Shirou, Sakura, Hideaki and Rider will be just fine.
The next option is going to save Taiga. She's just a normal woman, but she's important to me... She should be fine though, I'm sure Shirou will save her. She also has hundreds of thugs at her disposal... Not that they can do much in this situation.
The third option is going to the church and talking to that old priest. Who knows, maybe he has some method of contacting the Holy Church...? They're probably freaking out right now...
And the fourth option... the one I really don't like... Is going to that cave and checking on the grail that should not exist anymore... But grail mud is raining from the sky, so... Argh! Geez! The Clock Tower really might execute me this time if this is involved with that dumb cup!
Not that the Clock Tower exists anymore, apparently.
I turn around, and look at the door. "Guess I'm going to the church..." And then I feel a familiar, terrifying burning on my hand. Raising it up I see it, those three shapes that caused me hundreds of nightmares through out my life.
My eye twitches, I'm justifiably pissed. "Grail it is. The universe is definitely conspiring against me." Both to ruin my happiness, and my romantic relationships. Still, this bodes a interesting question...
Should I summon a servant? On one hand, it's a incredibly tiring process and I will feel like shit for the entire day, but on the other hand...
I can hear windows cracking, they're entering my house. I don't think they're actually that strong, but there are so many... It's like facing the hordes of a Dead Apostle. My reserves will end way before they all die.
I close the door. "A servant it is." And then I throw a gem at the ground, it shines green. It's just a simple barrier, but it should hold them outside of the basement for a little while longer... Hopefully.
Going through the process of setting up the circle is easy, my body is used to it. I had made these patterns thousands of times when I was younger in preparation, so there is no way I could ever forget it.
I do wish I could have enough time to double check my work though. Likewise, I wish I had time to prepare a catalyst, and to wait until it was time for the peak of my magical power, but whatever. It is what it is.
I just hope I get a Saber. "Please...!" Chanting those words is just as easy and familiar as well. Just like with the circle, I praticed them more than a thousand times, all so I could throw my life away in a stupid ritual one day.
And now I'm saying them in the hopes of saving humanity. If humanity is even in danger to begin with, BB did cut all contact so I can't confirm if this is happening outside of Fuyuki... Though Zelretch's disappearance implies it is.
Light fills my vision, a recognizable voice reaches my ears. "Are you my master...?" It's the voice of a friend, one who I haven't seen in years, and yet one who I see almost everyday. My luck is the worst.
I cross my arms. "Yes I am, Archer." My vision clears up, I finally see him. The man who looks just like Shirou, if Shirou decided to get a crazy tan, and then bleach his hair and start wearing contact lenses.
A smirk reaches his dumb, annoying face. "Well, this is new... you didn't mess up for once. Second try is the charm?" I hate that he is right, I actually managed to do the ritual better when under pressure then when I was a teenager. "Anyways, didn't think you were the type to compete on the Moon." I'm not.
Now I am the one smirking. "Actually, I'm planning on blowing up the Moon. Maybe." If the Moon is the enemy...
He raises an eyebrow. "Explain..." Oh boy.
I feel like we are about to blow each other's minds.

Altera cuts through the city like a drill, pointing her sword and moving forward in whatever direction I guide her. With a combination of all elements, we essentially become untouchable, moving through Fuyuki like those creatures weren't even here.
This also gives me a good opportunity to look at Altera's behind, which is... This is a bad situation Hideaki Emiya! And your parents might be under attack, so take your mind off the gutter...! Besides, we are getting close to my house!
Soon enough, we reach a traditional Japanese house. "Altera, that's the one!" It's surrounded by monsters, a few jump over the walls, while others crash through the them. At this point the gate is completely destroyed too.
My heart sinks, but I haven't confirmed their demise yet, and so...! "Let's go, quickly!" And so I won't give up on hope yet. Maybe my family has locked themselves on a room or something!
Altera nods. "Understood." She stops her drill maneuver, and instead gives the walls of my house a swing of her light sword. It extends, destroying everything on its path, and erasing those beasts with its heat.
I dash forward, confident that Altera will protect me. She has done just that so far, so there's no reason to believe other wise, but as I enter the courtyard what I find is...! Is... horrible.
There are no corpses, but the whole place is filled with monsters of all kinds. And that isn't all either, I can even see monsters inside of the house...! They got in, which probably means that...!
I almost hurl by instinct. "This..." Is no good. Is wrong. Is messed up. There's no way I was saved by some weird stupid canceled game, while my kind parents all died, there's just no way...! That would be too cruel.
Altera's emotionless voice reaches my ears. "It seems your parents are dead. My condolences Master." She then looks at me. "So, what are my next orders?" I can't answer that. I shouldn't need to answer that.
I bite my lip. "Maybe they're hiding inside of some random room, let's go in!" That was my original idea anyways! I-I just got taken back by how many of these things are roaming around here.
In my travels with Altera their numbers dwindled after all, both because the rain is weakening and because Altera is probably scaring them off with her sheer presence. So it's only natural I would get scared once I saw such a scene.
Altera sighs, but follows me nonetheless. "Steel your heart Master." It doesn't matter how much someone steels their heart or whatever, they could never just accept something like this.
We check room after room, Altera cuts down monster after monster, but we find nothing. So now in the living room, I sit down on that very same sofa I was lazing about on a few hours ago.
I don't know what to do. "Altera, I need time to think." That's the first thing that comes to my mind.
She does a quick swing of her sword in the air. "As you wish." I can hear the sound of ice being made. She has done the same ice wall trick from before, which probably means I'm safe for now.
Which means I have time to think of a way out of this situation. "My parents aren't dead..." Yeah, they can't be. "There are no corpses here, or blood." So they're okay. I need to take a deep breath and calm down.
Altera tilts her head. "You are correct in the second part, but the first one may need further thought." Immediately I glare at her, hoping that she will elaborate on what she meant. She doesn't though, all that meets me is a silent stare.
I grit my teeth. "Altera you..." Aren't you way too okay with this...! Why shouldn't she be? She Atilla the Hun, she doesn't need to care about some people she never met. "Sorry, but could you explain what you meant?" There's no point in getting angry with her.
I have a feeling Altera is the type of person who... struggles with talking to others, so I can't get mad at her. Besides, she has been my loyal protector until here, and also my only weapon against whatever BB has planned...
She starts explaining, thankfully. "We have found no bodies on the way here Master. This is supposed to be the extinction of mankind, is it not? And yet we saw no panic, all that littered the streets were monsters and destruction." True, I guess?
I raise an eyebrow. "Isn't that a good thing though?" For some reason I feel like it isn't. There were tons and tons of blood on the streets after all, so I doubt this is a miracle like no one dying.
A slight frown appears on her face. "It is not, at least not for us. I believe there are no corpses because those monsters leave no corpses, most likely they have been eating people alive." I... "That dog did try biting your leg, did it not?" B-but it was a dog, so...
I look down, hiding my face. "That's true, but... I mean, you weren't there to listen, but BB said that ten percent of humanity would survive the first day, so...! So there's no way literally everything was killed!" Even if we found no humans!
She raises an eyebrow. "I did not mean to say you were the last human alive or anything of the sort. I meant to imply that your parents were killed, and their corpses eaten." I... I know, I was just desperately trying to hide from me the topic.
I put my palms on my face. "But... there is no blood here, we walked past plenty of blood, and the dogs made me bleed too." Maybe my parents weren't in the house...! But that probably means they just died somewhere else...
Altera slowly raises a hand, and then after I give her a questioning look, she flinches it and lowers it down. "Master, you are right, but... I simply cannot understand how ten percent of humanity could live through this, much less civilians such as your parents." I don't either, but they have survived. They need to.
She continues. "These monsters take mystery to kill... and the population of Magi are surely less than ten percent." She nods to herself. "It is my belief that the death count is much higher than what we may expect." I hate this...
That said. "Well, the rain is beginning to end, I think. Maybe that's why?" So at least monsters will stop spawning. I hope, for all I know another will rain will come soon after.
Altera hums, it's a quiet and pleasant sound. "Indeed, I suppose that might mean a big number of humans survive... but ten percent? Well, perhaps the rain was weaker in other parts of the world." That's a possibility I didn't consider.
BB just said it would rain cursed mud, not how much it would rain. For all I know I have been facing a storm while another city has been facing slight downpour. Is it strange that this thought makes me mad?
My sword snarls, showing genuine emotion. "I see, she is much like a cat. Considering how much she has destroyed, that BB woman could have probably destroyed the world in... a week, I believe. She is playing with her food however, disgusting." That sounds awful.
But... "At least that means we have a chance of winning, right?" She could have ended this way sooner, but because of some reason, probably pride... she's holding back, giving us a fighting chance.
Altera's previous display of emotion she disappears, she goes back to being stoic. "Yes, our opponent is being a fool. I will caution you however, that the mouse never beats the cat, he only runs away." Well, that's discouraging.
I spend a few moments in silence, but then something comes back to my mind. "Hey Altera, what were you doing back when you raised your hand?" This girl is bad at communication... and so am I, but she's clearly worse. So I have to at least try seeing her intentions.
A slight blush appears on her face, as she looks away. "I wished to pat your head, to comfort you. However, at the last second I realized such... affections may hurt your dignity. I apologize for it, Master." Cute.
I can't believe I'm now smiling in a situation like this. "Altera, I'm totally okay with getting a head pat." Well, maybe my pride would have gotten hurt normal, but... c'mon, Altera is a hundred out of ten, any affection from her is a gift.
She's still looking away. "I shall remember your authorization, Master." This girl... I can't believe I'm acting like this while my parents are missing. But they're missing, not dead, of that I have no doubt.
It still hurts though. "Altera, I would very much like if I received a heat pat now. By the way, this isn't a order or anything, I'm just casually stating, that if a girl did happen to pat my head, I would be happy." It sure would help my heart calm down. Actually, it might make my heart explode.
Altera looks back at me. "I'm willing to fulfill your wish." she raises her hand and pats me. A single time. "Was that adequate? My strength as a servant is great, so do tell me if I have caused any damage." Yep, you did. As expected, my heart exploded.
I chuckle. "It was great, and I would definitely appreciate if I received more of those along the line." After saying that, I get up. I've had enough rest. "Okay, let's look for my parents... Or maybe I should run to auntie Rin or auntie Taiga..." Well, Rin probably needs help more.
They're all definitely alive of course, but this situation is complicated and I shouldn't waste too much time. This the apocalypse, not exactly a good time to receive head pats from the hottest woman I have ever met.
Altera looks down. "Master, may I give you a suggestion?" Why do I have a feeling I won't like this? Well, I definitely shouldn't reject advice from Atilla the Hun, she's a legendary hero after all. To be honest I would be happy if she just took over.
I give her a thumbs up. "Always feel free to speak your mind when with me. This master thing... You're a legendary hero, I'm not, so there's no need to act like I'm superior to you." It's more like she's superior to me.
She nods, and even though she shows no emotion, I feel like she's happy with my decision. "Very well. My advice is simple, rest more, sleep. You are tired." Ah... I can see where this is coming from.
But... "I'm not tired, my leg was healed completely, don't worry." I won't do something stupid like screaming at her that we should just go already. Her worries are understandable ones, it's just that she's wrong.
She shakes her head. "You are exhausted. Your body works, but your mind lags behind..." Is this a weird way to call me idiot? "You're moving slower, you are analyzing things slower. Your body is rested, your mind is rested, your soul is tearing itself apart." I...
She pokes my chest. "Bad for morale. Rest. Those who are dead have died, those who are alive can live longer." This girl... Where did this come from? I guess she would need to look out for her soldiers...
I clench my fists. "I..." But she's right, even if that's something I hate to acknowledge. At this point the people who would have died with a rain like this have died, so there's no drawback to me taking a nap.
Besides, I'm exhausted. The truth is that I lied before, because I'm worried, but I haven't even slept today, I spent all night awake because I was anxiously waiting for a new game. She was nice when she said only my soul is tired, because everything is.
I can't win if I march on like this. "You're right Altera, thanks. I'll go take a nap on my room... Ah, I'll find a place for you to sleep too. That said... Is it really okay for us to sleep? There are monsters outside and stuff..." Monster's who are trying to break in.
She waves me off. "It is fine, they won't break through my walls, and even if they did I would wake up with such noise..." She takes a moment in silence to continue. "Not that servants need to sleep, it simply conserves mana." Neat...?
She continues. "And as far as that is concerned, you... or that mysterious ring, have plenty. My strength is maxed, and I still feel like you could support at least a dozen servants more." I don't know if that's crazy good or not, but either way, I doubt I'll just find another Altera wandering around.
But there's one thing I want to object towards. "Actually Altera, I feel like you should sleep too. Your body and mind may be rested, but your soul is tired, right?" Even if she's Atilla the Hun... Surely the destruction of humanity has gotten to her, at least a little bit.
A small gasp of surprise leaves her mouth. "Ah. I enjoy this." Y-you don't need to say that outloud! "Very well, let's go to sleep, if any threat presents itself I shall wake and eliminate it." That's reassuring.
I start moving towards my familiar room. "Follow me Altera, I'll take us to my room." Then I'll put one futon for her and one for me... It's more safe for me if she sleeps in the same room as I, and I'm not enough of a loser to care about sharing a room with a girl in a situation like this.
Once we arrive however, Altera drops a bomb on me. "We should sleep together, in the same bed." My heart starts beating faster... And then quickly slows down. I know how she thinks, sort of, and so I definitely know she didn't just say she wants to fuck me.
I raise an eyebrow. "U-um... Sure? But can you explain why?" Remember Hideaki Emiya, this is the possible end of mankind, so bite back your embarrassment. She probably has a good reason for her actions.
Her sword finally disappears. "Because there might be an enemy servant roaming about. In such a case I need to be as closely as possible to protect your precious life." I see... Even thinking about an Altera who wants to kill me is scary though.
I begin sputtering. "Y-yeah, that's a good reason...!" And after that I begin laying down a futon. I guess I'm sleeping with a girl... It's the lame way, and this is a very weird situation, but... baby steps! Not that I'm aiming for Attila the Hun of course.
As I set the bed, Altera continues her plan of killing me. "My idea also helps raises morale and bonds. Our bodies will be at each other's mercy after all." Don't just say that without showing any emotion!
Before long both of use are on the futon. "Um... Good night? Ah, it isn't night yet..." She's staring at me, because she is. And now I don't know if it would be rude to turn around...! I can't believe there is a semi-naked woman laying down next to me.
She nods. "Yes, but have sweet dreams nonetheless. And thank you for this one, it is forgettable no longer." That's good...? Whatever.
I close my eyes, and to my surprise with how embarrassed I'm feeling... Sleep comes quickly.

I open my eyes. "Huh? Did I wake up already?" But I'm not on my bed, and what stands before me is Altera, but also not Altera, she is... "Bigtera!?" This is an weird dream.
