This story is a oneshot that I actually wrote quite a ways back, around when Fitting In was just starting. I've been holding onto it for a while, but am so excited to finally post it! If you were a fan of A Runaway In Stepford, then you'll probably enjoy this one too. It's a bit different from my usual narrative style, being told in first person, though this time it's a POV I've never done before.
This story is also one that I'd consider more of a back to basics type. Just a classic case of stepfordization, told in a single story. I hope to do more of those going forward, to be honest. It's fun making them unique and memorable, while still only having one chapter to tell the whole story.

Ah cool, thank you for clarifying! I recognized "The Reporter" for sure and so assumed the rest were also your stories, but the nods to others' work is even more fun. Can't wait for "Ladies' Night" and the rest of these upcoming one-shots!

Thank you! All the stories that were referenced were actually shoutouts to other creators! The first one is a reference to my old story The Reporter, while the ray gun story was in reference to Sortimid, the coffee shop in reference to Scramble, and the sisters (despite their resemblance to Memories) are actually meant to be a shoutout to a caption by Darlingyourhome! As for Ladies’ Night, well, I don’t want to spoil it, but I think you’ll enjoy it!

A very fun story! The epic scope of the multi-chapter sagas can be great, but it’s also really nice to get the full spectrum of the Stepfordization transformation in a single story. Sometimes has more of an impact I guess. This should come as no surprise but I LOVE all the references to past stories! Especially the nod to “Memories” that’s from a different viewpoint than the one that story had so sheds some outside light on it. It’s so fun to imagine the narrator of this story basically...reading Smokey stories? And coming away so convinced by your writing that the transformations were positive that it doesn’t even attract heat in the way real life kidnapping or brainwashing does. I’m guessing/hoping that this storytelling will continue in the “Lady’s Night” story you teased? If that’s about housewives sharing stories, maybe some of them will be characters we we’ve met before? Could be fun Regardless, keep up the good work!
