A Runaway In Stepford! (Short Story)
🕑 Added 2019-09-25 12:00:02 +0000 UTCWe're taking a brief break from The Stepford Game: Round 2, but that'll be back in two weeks for its grand finale! In the meantime, we have a short story that I've heard quite a few people clamoring for!
A homeless runaway girl finds her way to Stepford, where she's taken in and "adopted" by a swell Stepford family! She may not like the petticoats and prom dresses at first, but we all know how these stories end~
I decided to write this one in a sort of ambiguous way. I wanted to leave character descriptions up to reader interpretation, so however you think they look, that's how they look! I'll go back to more detailed and particular character descriptions in future stories, but I wanted to do this little experiment.

I chose to leave physical descriptions out so people could substitute their own mental images, but in my mind she started with black and blue hair, but it reverts back to blonde by the time she’s fully transformed!

I love the pace of the transformation, so we can see Molly’s walls break down one by one. My favorite part is the way her writing changes — the eventual introduction of “dear diary” is priceless, as is the transition from “fuck off” to “oh my good golly gosh.” Question: for comparison’s sake, what was her hair like when she was a punk vs a Stepford girl?

Aw, thanks! I just love the stark difference between a punk and a stepford girl, and how much they contrast~
As a punky girl myself it those stories always make Me feel so positively conflicted in the best ways haha. Great job Smokey!
