Burnout vs the Youtube Algorithm
🕑 Added 2023-02-01 21:23:46 +0000 UTCThe Youtube Algorithm benefits creators who upload as much as humanly possible, pushing creators to inhuman standards. Burnout is really common and I completely understand why.
When I first started my channel I decided not to have a schedule. My wifi is so bad that it would only cause stress if I tried to upload at a certain time or even on a certain day. I tried to do a video every day for the beginning of December and I learned quickly how easy it is to be burnt out. It was a good experience though. I learned a lot from it.
I make videos I enjoy making. I don't have the mental energy to stress about my channel. I take suggestions, but at the end of the day I have to be excited about an idea to work on it. This prevents me from burning out as well, because it feels more like a hobby than work.
Another thing that really helps is livestreams and comments. Hearing from people who enjoy my work is really encouraging. It feels nice to create something that people enjoy.
And the money I get from it is really nice too ๐
All that to say, boundaries are really important and YouTube doesn't like that. But at the end of the day, I'm in control of my channel. If views suffer because of it, that's alright. It's not worth my mental health.

My dude. I go by a few rules in my life. One of them is to do the things I love at my own pace. Once that thing becomes a chore, it's no longer fun. You keep doing what you do at your own pace. If you feel like doing a vid, awesome. If you don't feel like doing it, just as awesome. As long as you enjoy it, it really doesn't matter how often you pop out content or even what kind of content to be honest. As long as you enjoy doing it. Lol the YouTube algorithm is incredibly stupid. Like on many many levels. Ok I did a whole rant and deleted it lol. I'm done. Lol

You should always come before the algorithm, people doing YouTube as their sole full time job is just insane as a thing because their entire livelihoods ride on it. Stay safe and sane and avoid the whims of our AI overlords <3
