According to an article from the Cleveland Clinic, Haphephobia is an intense, irrational fear of being touched. It is different from hypersensitivity, which is physical pain associated with being touched. People with haphephobia feel extreme distress over the thought of being touched. This anxiety can lead to physical symptoms like nausea, vomiting or panic attacks
You are on a trip to your local museum with a group of your friends. Usually your friends are good about not touching you but for some reason they feel the need to touch your shoulder and grab your arms from time to time during the trip. It was making you extremely uncomfortable, and you tried to speak up for yourself, but they brushed it off by laughing and saying, ‘you’re too sensitive!”
