Fox Rocks St. Charlies's Socks
🕑 Added 2025-05-15 20:39:30 +0000 UTCJazz desired some Fox and Frog! Since the dynamic duo (sans their cat and mouse companions, who are out doing other stuff) have a fairly specific role in When We Fly, let's talk about Icy's best frenemy, Vixen Grin.
Vix is a mysterious figure who ascended into the the St. Charlies limelight by performing holiday revues with full orchestral accompaniment. So enormously popular were the audacious alto's Christmas shows that she was dubbed the velvet-toned conqueror of the midwest, the fox who rocks...dare we say, The Voice Of St. Charlies. But Jingle Bells won't get you ALL the way, and Vix ultimately agreed to join forces with local rockers CRUSHED ICE, who needed a new lead singer when long-time smoker Hip Horowitz could no longer trust her own larynx.
Along with her winning pipes, Vix has a raffish trickster soul and a tendency to keep her effortless cool when stage jitters are putting everyone else at each other's throats. Should perfectionist Icy throw her substantial weight around, Vix just rolls those effervescent blue eyes. It's a well known (but never uttered) fact that Icy suffers from seething Vix envy...the crowds show up to marvel at those magical vulpine vocal chords, not so much the ice bear's competent drumming and song writing. And THEN, Vix goes and brings her much-younger wife into the sacred circle. It's enough to make a bear bellow!
In Vix's defense, Icy's former lead guitarist, um, died, and Kero-chan could coincidentally play like a little green angel. The big bear saw no alternative but to give the job to the neophyte frog and her stupid genki /ox/ horn hairstyle, her shapely twenty-something ass and her constant flirtation with her VERY happy wife Vix. Kero's presence rubs Icy the wrong way, even as the froggy does little in her presence but smile pleasantly and play a bitchin' guitar. Icy is snide to poor Kero and constantly reasserts her thundering dominance whenever Vix is around. The duo seem to bring out the worst in the ice bear, a phenomenon that endangers the musical magic of which the group are capable when harmony prevails.
It's assumed that both Vix and Kero are from Japan, as they tend to conspire in rapid fire Japanese (a certain ursine is CERTAIN they're talking about her), though they've never admitted one point of origin or another. Icy suggests they're from another planet. Foxes and frogs are from Neptune, blustering bears are from Uranus.
