Short Stories: What's Opera, Dog?
🕑 Added 2024-07-17 19:46:26 +0000 UTCSome exquisite works of art never get old. Spoony shares her love language with Belle and does her an educate. Music is such an important part of WwF...not easy to convey in visual media!
TLDR: Opera good, Kae like.
Do you remember where you were the first time you heard Nessun Dorma? Or Queen of the Night? Or Habanera from Carmen? How about Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom? For me, the "aha" moment was sitting in a theatre at the Stratford Festival where they were preforming The Mikado; I was 12 or 13 years old and the soprano was singing The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze. I was like "Oooh, I wanna do THAT."
Last night your aunts Kae and Liz were hanging out, YouTubing our favorite arias for each other. Get you some.

That is a very good idea...I just have to go spelunking for them all!

This is just a suggestion, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who would appreciate having all the Short Story comics gathered into a patreon tag or collection. <3

Even Ki is a fan of opera, though it is the Japanese variation (Noh opera and it's comedic cousin Kyōgen) that she's most familiar with! Frog should play some Italian opera for her some time, Spoony-style. The iconic Kaonashi (No-Face) from Spirited Away was best known for wearing a traditional Noh mask - partly as a pun (boy do the Japanese love puns) and partly to try and fit in. Opera has influence far and wide!

Spoony be dealing that good serotonin. One hit, and you are jonesing for Sarah Brightman and Antonio Banderas remixes.

Don't we all to one extent or another? That's why Ki and Mepuru exist after all.

This may stun you, but I've actually seen this video before. So cool.

Everybody still loves Wagner's work. Death of the author again, I suppose. We can't have nice things.

As long as it is 'Cantabile', it works in my book. Nessum Dorma is a banger! As is "La donna e mobile", even if sung by a darn swine.

Grew up raised by an opera singer. Sadly his mental state prevented him from making a decent living at it, but when he performed, he was damn good.

Belle's eyes are fantastic.

Belle goes on to play Carlotta in Phantom...Kae lives vicariously.

I haven't listened to much opera, but what I have, I've really liked. Also, the title is awesome. And Kae wins ALL the points for it. :D
