Yeesh, Valerie. She must've been holding all that back for years, poor thing. :( At the same time, it's very, very nice to get more insight into the mechanics of Val and Red's relationship. Sex aside, pretty much every interaction they've had thus far has been negative or neutral, to the point I was kinda wondering why the heck they were married. At a certain point, the feeling of misery with another person will outweigh the fear of being alone, so I wondered why confident Red didn't just dump sadsack Valerie, or why the sensitive Valerie didn't just walk out on blowhard Red. It's good to see that explored here. They don't hate each other, that's nice to know. But do they love each other? Is there even a scrap of genuine affection to their marriage? "You're right goddamn here and I feel so alone....". Fucking OUCH, Valerie. Yet very believable! Though Red offers her a little comfort here, I stiiiiill don't quite feel a true married/familial bond between these two. I believe that sometimes hard work and therapy can save a floundering relationship, but it kinda feels like all that's keeping Val and Red together is inertia (and their shiny new third-bird). Maybe they'd both be better off pulling the plug on their marriage. It's not abusive, but it seems like it's making both of them miserable. Kittiwake is right, though. Therapy is a good start. Whether the marriage lasts or not, they clearly need it (especially poor Valerie).

Val is someone many of us can relate to. As we feel the same. Worthless, a nothing it's hard to let anyone in when you feel like that as you are always worried they will find something hey don't like and leave I know I have felt this any times
