First: Logitech MX Vertical
Before I became the owner of the above-mentioned mice, I always used a regular cheap computer mouse. My wrist and fingers often hurt, my hand was very tired, but I perceived it as something inevitable, a cost of the profession, it seemed logical to me that if my work is on a computer, then some discomfort is normal.
Some time ago I really wanted to become the owner of a mouse from Razer, but it turned out that their quality is not as good as I imagined, and the high price is due to the famous brand.
My caring partner suggested that I try an alternative, but I resisted for a long time, since at that time it was difficult for me to change my outdated opinion about computer mice, because I had been using regular mice all my life.
As a result, after discussions and arguments on both sides, we came to a reasonable result, I decided to try a non-standard mouse, it became the Logitech MX Vertical. It looks unusual, such a strangely shaped monster, but it turned out to be comfortable and it didn’t take me long to get used to it, since my hand immediately took the correct relaxed position. This mouse turned out to be so convenient that, it seems to me, in the first hours of working with it, I began to hear the phrase “Make us whole” in the outskirts of my mind :D
The interesting thing is that when using a standard mouse, I did not hold my hand strictly on top of the mouse, but it seemed to constantly slide to the right, as if I were holding a vertical mouse, it’s just some kind of magic :)
It turned out to be very convenient, after a few days I noticed that my wrist and fingers no longer hurt and my hand got tired much less. When using a vertical mouse, I feel as if my hand is lying on a feather pillow and magically controls what is happening on the computer monitor, and I also think this mouse has caused me an addiction: D
Now about the second device: Kensington Orbit Trackball
It's a retro-futuristic looking thing with a ball in the center and two buttons on either side of it :) Looks cool!
In the application for this device, everything is very flexibly configured, a variety of macros and whatever combinations of keyboard and mouse keys your heart desires.
I tried to master it in two approaches. The first time I allocated a specific task for him in order to gradually get used to it, but this approach turned out to be a failure: I constantly forgot about the trackball, since I am working very enthusiastically, immersed in the process so that sometimes I don’t even hear the timer signal that calls me to do it. break.
With my second attempt at mastering this Star Trek thing, I decided to do something more radical, I gave my vertical pet to my partner and started trying to work with the trackball. It was slow :) I was expecting something like this and thought, "Well, I'll just have to keep using this thing and I'll get used to it." The first day of getting used to it slowed down my work, I was a little worried about it, but since I worry about a lot of things, I thought that in general everything was fine and I could do it.
On the second day, while working, I needed to perform many precise tasks in Blender's editing mode (for example, drag a vertex, slightly change the viewing angle in the program's viewport and release the vertex, then inspect the resulting surface from different angles). I spent five times more time than usual on these tasks, which made me very nervous as there are many plans and tasks in the works ahead.
Just as I was getting discouraged and upset, my partner walked into my workspace carrying my vertical mouse on the rug, saying, “I’ll put an end to your torment!” I was so happy to get back to my Logitech that I felt like I was given a cure for everything and I hacked this life :D
I continued working with redoubled enthusiasm from euphoria :)
What can I say about the Kensington Orbit Trackball: it saves your wrist, since you don’t need to roll it on the mat - all movements on the monitor occur by rotating the ball on the mouse. The page scrolling wheel is conveniently located around the main ball and is pleasant to use; you can set up inertial scrolling and enjoy scrolling through pages of text :)
I didn’t have the emotional strength to continue mastering it, but I know that some people whose work takes place on a computer use this mouse and are very satisfied recommend it, since I watched several videos on YouTube on this topic. And I think that these people are right, the trackball should be comfortable :) I expected quick results and this led me to quit learning this mouse.
In the end, I gave the Kensington to my partner, he connected it via Bluetooth to his Steam Deck, he’s happy as a clam and doesn’t want to part with this mouse :) I’m glad that we were both happy in this situation.
What can I say in the end, my favorite is the Logitech MX Vertical, I loved this mouse because I forgot about the pain in my hand. I can definitely recommend him.
As for the Kensington Orbit Trackball, in my opinion, it needs a more thorough approach, more time to learn how to use it. The trackball also takes care of your wrist and looks simply cosmic :)
If you have the opportunity and desire to try these computer mice, then they are both worth it. Any of them will save your joints and improve your work at the computer.

Despite the fact that I can’t afford SpaceMouse right now, I think it’s worth the money :) I’ll add it to my wish list and one day I’ll definitely try it and write a post about it ^_^ Thank you for being happy for me, it's very nice :) At the same time, I want to say that the fact that I tried new devices is mostly not my merit, my partner persuaded me to do this for a very long time xD I myself would hardly dare to do this, because it is very difficult for me to move away from what is familiar, especially if this habit is a work tool, for example, which I use for many hours a day. But trying something new can be much more effective than trying something familiar.

I wanted to post the same thing, whether or not you had looked into SpaceMouse yet. Haven't tried it myself but I know several people in the 3D profession (various activities, not just modelling) that use and swear by it. So might be worth a try, although it's sadly expensive (I imagine the Kensington wasn't that cheap either). It's ok not to like something, the important part was giving it a try and seeing what you liked/disliked. I'm happy for you that you managed to work with the Logitech one so fast, I'm always daunted by knowing that I'll have to slow down, get frustrated and lose time for quite a while before being able to adjust to a device that's so different from what I'm used to.

Wow, SpaceMouse looks very cool and convenient! I haven't heard of her before, thank you ^_^ My partner, who usually searches for things that improve life, felt guilty because, just like me, I heard about it for the first time :) Now at the first opportunity I want to get my hands on this device because it seems like a very good additional tool

In my earlier years I worked as a video editor and 3D animator and had many of the problems you described. My mentor suggested using a track ball and that made a huge difference. I haven’t tried a vertical mouse, but maybe I’ll give it a shot. While we’re on the topic of peripherals, have you tried a SpaceMouse? Used with your non-mouse hand, it allows you to manipulate your 3D workspace while working.
