Chapter 554 - How does she take the news? - Differently
🕑 Added 2025-04-06 17:55:07 +0000 UTCYou went over everything you thought was relevant for now without going into full detail. The system, Sarah’s profile, the changes she had been going through to help explain. Even the intelligence upgrades. But what seemingly seemed to make it click for her when you were keeping a very close eye on her reaction was the cup size increases, the physical change actually now making a lot more sense to her given how quick it had been.
You were still keeping an eye on the timer you had set and nearly 7 minutes had passed, time for you to get one final topic out for her to process.
“And last but not least, there’s a new power I got called Forget me not. I can only use this a limited number of times but it makes a subject forget the last 10 minutes of whatever I or another subject has done. It’s the first time we have used it but if you would prefer not to remember this conversation, we can always go back” you revealed, putting your phone on the table to show Sarah how much time has passed on your timer and that you were also recording the audio for her.
Sarah wasn’t completely freaking out after the news so your first worry of using the effect on her without her knowing now didn’t need to happen. However she had been completely silent since you started your explanation so you were curious as to what she was thinking.
“And I know this is a lot to process and not believing us is still very valid” you added, feeling nervous as you wanted to keep on talking.
Emma squeezed your leg once again and you forced yourself to calm down so Sarah could have her time. Once you fully stopped you could feel your heart beating in your chest and the anxiety you were holding hadn’t seemed this bad since the weekend when you had been nearly caught by John at Izzy’s house.
“...It’s a lot but… I do believe you. Too many things are starting to make sense for it not to. I… I think I want to forget this conversation though” Sarah revealed, shocking both you and Emma.
“Is there a reason why?” Emma interjected, getting to the question before you could.
“If there’s some reassurance you need then we can make sure you feel comfortable with anything” you added, with some slight worry in your voice.
Sarah gave a quick glance at the timer and seemed to think she had enough time left.
“I’m okay with this… I think. I’m gonna need a better explanation another time but for now… I don’t think I’m gonna be able to concentrate on anything else but this. The exams? The party tonight? I think I’ll just be stuck asking you two a lot of questions that I’m sure you will answer but I already have a lot on my mind” Sarah said, giving a surprisingly logical answer.
“Plus… It is kinda hot that you can wipe my memory like that…” she added, almost a whisper, her cheeks flushing.
You were momentarily stunned at how much she had managed to consider in such a short space of time and you would have clearly wanted to know everything you could if you were in her situation. But the fact that she was able to process everything you had said and not immediately freak out required more mental fortitude than you would have expected.
“Are you sure? We are messing with your memory” you asked, a worry you hadn’t even considered until now coming to mind.
“I’m positive. I’m gonna need more time then we have now to fully process this and… if it’s okay, can you both tell me tonight like you originally planned. I think that should work.” she replied, looking over at the phone showing the timer, just hitting the nine-minute mark.
“Oh! Can I leave myself a message?” she suggested, looking way too happy at the prospect.
“Yes we will tell you later, and yes you can leave a message” you said, wanting to give her as much time as possible.
She quickly took the phone and went out of earshot, whispering something into the microphone before returning, taking about 20 seconds off on her own.
“And don’t listen to that until I’m there either, back after you tell me everything again” she replied, a smile on her face with her cheeks still flushed.
You ended the recording and scrolled back onto Sarah’s profile. There was so much that you wanted to ask her and she was likely feeling the same but you really wanted to abide by her wishes so you navigated to the Forget me now effect and gave her one last final look.
“Okay, I’m gonna hit it, you ready?” you asked, wanting her to completely consent.
“I’m ready” Sarah replied, seeing how serious you were being.

You hit the button with Sarah’s eyes on you and Emma watching your phone, seeing the status change and moving your eyes up to Sarah while you quickly locked your phone.
The smile on Sarah’s face changed to one that was a lot less giddy but you could see that she was still in a good mood. A look of confusion went over her face quickly after that and she looked in your direction.
“Sorry you said something about a secret right?” Sarah spoke, opening her mouth to speak again but stopping herself, as if something was on the tip of her tongue that she couldn’t remember.
Both you and Emma were silent as you watched Sarah go through the process, having caught the 10-minute window slightly too late to make this process easier.
“...It can wait until later if that’s okay? We will be a bit more comfortable when we are at home and… I don’t think we have the time at the moment” you replied, showing her the time on your phone.
“Oh shit yeah, we need to head back” Sarah shot back, more time passing than she had first thought.
Other than that initial look of confusion, she seemed to be back to her original self. The colour in her cheeks had gone back down and there were no suspicious looks for her to show that she was unsure on anything, only you and Emma were the ones acting differently. She didn’t even seem bothered by the 10 minutes suddenly disappearing, as if she had just got too wrapped up in the earlier conversation she was having to notice the time.
Sarah got up from the table and as if following the motions, you and Emma quickly followed behind, giving each other a look as you kept an eye on her.
The first bell rang signally that your conversation would have been cut short anyway and other than making sure Sarah made it to her next exam without any issues, you were then forced to sit and take the final test of the day with nothing but your thoughts, smiling to yourself at how distracted you were just as Sarah had predicted.
Author's note: Apologies for the delayed chapter. Completely misjudged the time I'd be back from my holiday.
