Chapter 489 - What do you say? - Lucy guesses first
🕑 Added 2024-08-01 19:13:00 +0000 UTC“What’s on your mind?” Lucy asked before you could even get too deep into your thoughts about your current worry.
“Why’d you ask?” you replied, curious about what she was thinking first.
“It felt like your heart started beating quicker. Like you were getting worked up about something” Lucy answered, tapping your chest where her hand currently was.
“I didn’t know I was that obvious. It’s…I definitely don’t want you to leave but are you okay if we sit up and lean on the headrest? I like it when you are around but I haven’t had much quiet time recently where I can just chill out and I want to do some more revision while I still have the chance this week. Is that something you’re alright with?” you revealed, slightly rambling just in case you got cut off before you made your full point.
“Hey, that’s fine… You really should be making some time for yourself, you know?” Lucy replied, speaking softly to reassure you.
You felt relieved that she had understood you and that she was happy to stick around while you did other things, letting you get up and find your bag that was still full of mock test papers and textbooks.
You also grabbed a few other things from around your room but you could feel Lucy’s eyes still on you as you walked around, turning to look at her when you noticed and seeing that she wasn’t looking away once you saw her staring.
“I know you want to start on this but… when was the last time you spent some alone time?” Lucy asked, curiosity evident in her voice.
“I had some time at school today after I’d finished some of the tests… got a lot of thinking done” you replied, retreating back into your memories for a moment before you focused back in on Lucy.
“Why?” you asked, returning to the bed once you had gathered everything you thought you needed.
“No reason” Lucy said dismissively with a smile, shaking her head as if showing it wasn’t that important of a conversation.
She didn’t seem too bothered by your answer so you didn’t dwell on it either, sitting down at the side of her so that you could get comfy again. Lucy took her phone out of her pocket before doing the same, cuddling up next to you while making sure you could still work on what you needed to.
After that, you pretty much did what you had set out to do. There was some small talk between the two of you when you noticed something interesting or Lucy saw something on her phone that she wanted to show you, but for the most part, Lucy left you to work on your studying while you both just enjoyed each other’s company.
You caught her looking in your direction a few times as if she hadn’t expected to be caught staring, but each time she just lightly smiled back at you to let you know everything was okay.
There were moments where you heard movement throughout the rest of the house as either Sarah left her room or Mary came up or down stairs but you were left without any interruptions for a while. You managed to get through at least one past test paper and were partly through another when you first saw someone enter the room, having line of sight of the door from your bed as you looked over the top of the paper you were reading.
“Mary said that… dinner will be ready soon. Probably about 15 minutes” Sarah announced, starting to talk as she rounded the corner before she stopped.
She had paused when she saw Lucy sat lying with you on the bed but she continued after only a brief moment.
Lucy was still glued to your side and although she had kept your arms free, you had purposefully kept at least some skin-to-skin contact for the past hour. You hadn’t intended for this to be a time to increase her KDK seconds but you didn’t want to waste the opportunity either.
“Cool, wanna join us for a bit?” you asked, feeling slightly guilty about not inviting Sarah sooner for the studying part.
Sarah seemed to be eyeing up you and Lucy as she saw you together and not doing anything sexual like she had expected, not quite understanding the new dynamic that was going on in your bedroom. She took the smallest step forward and it looked like she was about to agree when she took an extra second to think over her words, placing her foot back where it had been and stopping herself.
“...Maybe another time, I still need to set the table” Sarah replied, seemingly collecting herself.
“You sure? There’s plenty of room” Lucy added, patting the bed at the side of her as an invitation for Sarah to join her.
Again, Sarah seemed to hesitate but she recovered quicker this time.
“Nah I should go back down. Oh, and Mary said to ask if she can wear clothes again” Sarah relayed.
Something about that sentence just seemed to lower everyone’s barriers a bit more than anyone had expected and you could feel a smile creep onto your face, matching ones appearing on both Sarah and Lucy’s faces as if you were all in on a joke that nobody else would understand.
“Yeah when we sit down to eat she can wear something but…” you started to reply, knowing that she had needed the apron while cooking and she needed something just in case while eating.
However, you were hit with a realisation that you had never fully discussed Mary’s situation with both Lucy and Sarah at the same time, having spoken to each of them separately but never having a chance to talk about her with them both.
“Unless we all think there's a better option? Or at least something more fun? We have some time to think it over” you suggested, both of them perking up at the idea.
Sarah quickly looked back down the hallway from where she stood in the doorway and after thinking on it for a second, she joined you both in the room and sat down on the bed, bringing her legs up so she could still face you.
Lucy also ended up changing positions, no longer leaning on the headboard and shuffling herself forward so she could actively join the conversation.
“I’d normally take charge with something like this but it feels like something the three of us should decide now that we have the chance. Any ideas?” you asked, putting your books to the side on your bedside table and straightening up as well.
You wanted to let them each come up with an idea but you also felt the need to try and come up with something that all three of you would benefit from. Or something even Mary would enjoy.
A silence took over as you were all stuck on the idea, each of you having a common goal in what felt like the weirdest situation for you all to be in agreement of, each feeling giddy about what could potentially be planned next.
Author's note: Last chapter before the break. See you on the 20th when I'm back :)
