Chapter 345 - Any changes in the car? - Change of seats
🕑 Added 2023-06-29 17:46:38 +0000 UTCAbout an hour had passed since you had arrived and while there hadn’t been any movement from the house, the seating arrangements in the car had changed as the three of you tried to get more comfortable.
The first to move was Emma as she opted to get into the back with you and rested between your legs, her back leaning on your chest as she continued to browse her phone and occasionally show you something she found interesting or funny.
At first, Grace didn’t approve but once she realised that Emma’s seat was now open and she could lie down without messing up her seat, she quickly changed her mind and moved over. That put both of them within touching distance but you kept your hands off of Grace while you were trying to stay focused on the task at hand. That didn’t mean you would stop staring at her cleavage every now and then now that she was in Emma’s spot and the smirk she had on her face every time you looked told you she didn’t mind the attention.
Your arms stayed wrapped around Emma but with Grace so close you didn’t risk doing anything suspicious in front of her, keeping your hands on her midriff so you could still have skin to skin contact.
Grace brought her own pair of binoculars up to her eyes and you considered slowly moving your hands up Emma’s body while she couldn’t see but she spoke before you could consider it further.
“Heads up” Grace announced, her eyes locked on to whatever she could see.
You turned away from her and towards the house as the front door was now open, grabbing your own pair of binoculars to see what was going on. A thought passed through your head of how ridiculous the three of you would look if one of the neighbours saw you but you were willing to pay that price.
The door was still open when you took a look for yourself and you saw two figures in the doorway. One was John and the other a woman younger than him that you had never seen before.
You would have likely accepted that but you felt your stomach drop when you saw that she was cradling a baby in her arms, not a newborn but the details passed you by as your brain tried to think of an excuse.
Maybe he had a sister, he had never told you about? As if he could hear your thoughts, John leaned in for a kiss and while she looked hesitant at first, the woman kissed him back in a way that definitely conveyed that they weren’t siblings.
“What a fucking bastard” Grace said, the disgust clear in her voice.
“What?” Emma asked, not able to clearly see what was going on.
Grace stayed silent as she waited for you to answer her but you kept your eyes locked firmly on the two of them and the house behind them. As strange as it was, your mind kept going back to last weekend when John had come to Mary’s. He had a baby with this woman and still decided to go and visit you and even slept in the same bed as Mary.
Maybe it was a sort of kinship with the kid but you realised they were going to be in the exact same situation as you except that they wouldn’t even get a few years without the cheating and the lies.
Again, you didn’t know what your emotions were telling you but even with all the negative thoughts now rapidly going through your head, none of them were directed at the woman or the baby.
Emma noticing that you hadn’t replied, took a hold of one of your hands and the contact did soothe you and calm you down slightly. It was enough at least to make you realise John was getting in his car and there was a 50/50 chance that he was going to drive passed you depending on which way he turned out of the driveway.
You looked away from the back window and slid your body down the door, pulling Emma with you as you fully lay down to avoid being seen. Grace was already laying in her seat so she stopped holding herself up on her elbows and lay flat.
Without getting up to check the situation, you loaded up the KDK and went to his profile, quickly checking the distance but putting your phone in a place Emma could see to not fully keep her out of the loop.
The distance stayed the same until you heard the noise of a car engine starting up thanks to Emma opening the window earlier and then the figure started to change. Thankfully it went further away as he must have turned the other way and after getting back up and taking a brief look at the house, you saw the woman still there and watching the car leave.
You briefly thought you saw her relax once he was gone but at this distance even with the binoculars, that could have just been you projecting what you wanted to see as she walked back inside.
Silence fell on the car for a few moments as John drove away until Grace spoke up.
“Should we stay here or do you want to…” Grace started to ask.
“Him, go with him” you interrupted, realising how harsh your voice sounded and regretting it instantly.
“Sorry, sorry. Yeah I don’t think it’s better if we follow the car. We can always come back here if needed now that we have the location but the tracker I have only gives a distance and not a direction if you aren’t close enough to it” you apologised, knowing your anger was misplaced.
“Sure thing and there's no need to say sorry. It’s actually a milder reaction than I had at least” Grace said, giving a little chuckle as she tried to loosen the tension.
Grace moved back over to the driver's seat but she didn’t ask Emma to get back in the front with her, both of you sitting up so you could each put on a seat belt.
You still felt like you shouldn’t have been so harsh but with Grace not thinking anything of it you decided to put it behind you, turning to see Emma still looking slightly confused as she was still out of the loop.
Grace got the car started and you drove passed the house once again, no sign that anything had changed after the big reveal.
“So what did you see from where you were sitting?” you asked Emma, wanting to see what she had witnessed.
“Well he was with a woman and it looked like they leaned in for a kiss, was that the issue?” Emma asked knowing it was enough to be annoyed about but not deserving the reaction it caused from both you and Grace.
“Well, she was holding a baby. Probably a mini-John from the looks of it” you replied, the joke self-deprecating but it felt appropriate.
Grace chuckled at least but with Emma hearing the news for the first time, a look of surprise came over her before her emotions changed pretty quickly.
