RC VTOL V4!
🕑 Added 2018-10-31 22:43:38 +0000 UTC Writing code is surprising enjoyable (when it works), especially when it enables a plane to take off and land with zero forward velocity! This weeks video is a complicated one, but hopefully interesting and informative!

I can relate. I attempted some PID control with an arduino this summer and eventually outsourced it to a separate controller. I quickly found the limits of the arduino Haha

I initially attempted to use a PID library within the arduino combined with an IMU, but ended up using the arduino to just do the output channel mixing. It uses a 32bit F4 flight controller for the stabilisation because they're relatively cheap and the PID algorithm and filtering is far superior to what I can code or even what an arduino can compute.
Did you code your own PID algorithm? Or does your flight controller come with it built in and you just tune it? I'm sure ill find out when the vid uploads

It's currently uploading! Hopefully will be ready to watch in a couple of hours!

Sad panda 🐼: I thought this was an early video upload. Last week was a cliffhanger, not being able to see it fly!
Impressed by the weight, interested to see it fly.

I'm excited!
Can't wait
