Friends-Only Post No. 18: Far, Fair, Free
🕑 Added 2016-09-26 05:09:38 +0000 UTC Hello, friends --Not a lot of book-related material to discuss this time, alas! We haven't recorded the next episode or anything -- though we are ready, willing, raring to do so -- so there aren't any insider details to divulge this time around. But! J. has only just now returned from L.A. Podfest, where he performed meetings, greetings, RECORDINGS, etc., whereof he furtheringly reports that he is confident that he saw a million faces -- and rocked them all.
Much more to come about this, including the eventual release of some most rad guerilla recordings and the ever-looming possibility of New Special Guests, so stay tuned.
As for ol' Clsn, he's heading to Portland on Secret Errands, sadly having nothing to do with the podcast. But, you know -- if you see him on the street, approach him with the secret pass phrase "WE READ WEED DADS" and demand your merch (and hope he has some). (He probably has some.) (Also if you see him on the streets of Oakland, same deal.)
COME ONE, COME ALL, COME OUT, COME ON!
This has been mentioned before, but we're so excited to be able to perform live again for you that we want to put it in front of you again: we will be reading at Litquake!
Saturday, October 8, 2016: 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the Elbo Room here in San Francisco. We'll be reading bad reviews of good books with our excellent pal Lauren Dissident and it's gonna make your dang face hurt you'll be smiling so big. Here, let real names be proof: the following is a review I will NOT be reading, but that will give you the bold flavor of the proceedings and goings/carryings-on.
So goodreads recommended this to me obviously they took a 13 year old who loves harry potter has a major crush on Hermione Granger and is also obsessed with LOTR and the Book Thief...jeez what shall we give this kid I know...hundreds of pages of molesting rape war genital ripping out and sluttiness...I learned about this in ancient history class....it was bad like TWILIGHT bad yes you heard me TWILIGHT bad it was just so PREDICTABLE not to mention badly written and TERRIBLY narrated really its LUCKY that it was a library book otherwise I would have set the shop that sold this to me ON FIRE Yes I hated and loathed this book and im proud it was basically one thousand year old shitty propaganda HOMER YOU SON OF A BITCH I HATE YOUR WORK....I WILL NOT READ THE PRECIOUS ILIAD
Yes, that's right: that was a review of -- or at leastways a response to -- the Odyssey. And that's the kind of thing we'll be declaiming in our most puissant voices, all night long (or at least for two hours) on Saturday, October 8, at the Elbo Room in swinging, swank, swell San Francisco, from 7:30 to 9:30 in the evening so COME! GET! SOME!
Also! We won't be there this year because life events and so forth, but if you're any -- ANY -- where near Minneapolis, you should most assuredly surge forth into Grumpy's for
, because it is going to be fine and dandy -- like a Hard Candy Christmas.
NEXT, AN EPISODE
As announced, we're taking on the horniest, orneriest genre we know: hockey romance, with the delightful (?) romp (?) FOREVER PUCKED! It's cheap, it's not exactly a difficult read, and it'd be a lot of fun if you'd read it with us and send us your thoughts!
Leave us a voicemail at 614.9.IDEOTV. (Try to keep it under 2 minutes or you'll get cut off, and don't forget to tell us what you go by, caller Fakelastname!)
CONTESTS > PROTESTS
