WATCHING THE DETECTIVES
One never knows where the best art will come from. (Or, for that matter, the worst.) This is why we always keep a weather eye out for notable things, interesting things, remarkable things.
Things like the image heading these words you are reading right where you sit. And the images accompanying this post on Patreon (probably not visible via email). I am not -- entirely -- certain why brilliant artists confronted with wonderful stories like early Sherlock Holmes would mostly choose to illustrate crucial moments of drama such as:
- "Holmes Names the Businesses They Pass"
- "Jabez Wilson's Classified Ad"
- "Greeting Holmes and Watson with the Keys"
- "Mrs. Toller Got the Ladder Ready"
- "Watching from Their Room"
I, for one, am thrilled that they did make these choices, however. And I hope you will be, too!
And now we must return to our regularly scheduled mission of keeping eyes out for bad books for your entertainment and the odd bits of good art that feed our souls and allow us to keep our minds somewhere in the vicinity of "not yet completely shattered".
SAVE THE DATE
Details to come, but there'll be another one of our Patented Live Events coming soon -- February 11, in fact, 7:30 at night, at Green Apple Books on the Park in beautiful San Francisco, California. Keep a slot open for us and keep your ears open, because more information is heading your way like a crab from the sea. Like a rat from the shadows! Like a rock memoir from a guy who needs some extra cash and isn't absolutely certain he's still capable of moving units. In such a way will the information come.
THANKS
Sorry this one is a little briefer than normal, friends: I'm busy juggling many, many messages from the Lady Noodles on the topic of turtle sex, which -- and I cannot stress this strongly enough -- is something I know almost nothing about, and that I wish I knew even less about, and the sheer shrieking horror of what a turtle's penis looks and acts like is something that I wish I knew literally nothing whatsoever about. So I am going to have to stop writing this and go find a brick to hit my head with for a while. xoxox, and we'll talk to you again soon.
