We are shutting for the period because it is irresponsible for us to stay open as a vector for infection. Instead we are switching into takeaway food and more importantly a solidarity kitchen that will deliver food and supplies by donation to those self isolating or in financial difficulty.
We raised over £1000 in the first day of the crowdfunder, but we are gonna need much more than that, the cafe itself has 9 members whose entire salaries (and ability to pay rent) is reliant on the business, so we need to be able to support ourselves as well as our community.
Please please please if there is any way you can help spread the word, or have someone from our crew onto your platform to promote the project and inspire others to start their own versions.
Here's the website of the project cooperationbirmingham.org.uk
Here's the gofundme: gofundme.com/f/cooperation-birmingham-mutual-aid-kitchen
and our cafe's facebook page is facebook.com/thewarehousecafe

Thank you so much for sharing. This is our project we are at 4k now and ramping up to get it working next week. Good news is the govt is finally getting it's act together and gonna pay hospitality worker's wages 80% so we can just throw ourselves at the project and help as many people as possible. Anyone in the midlands in the UK please hmu.
