ANNOUNCEMENT: Book Club Change & Experimenting w/ New Ideas
🕑 Added 2019-05-22 18:30:05 +0000 UTCA week or so ago I sent out an email to all of you regarding the book club. I was concerned with lower engagement and was wondering if folks wanted me to try something else.
I received over two dozen replies and taken all together one thing is very clear: although people like the idea of the book club, many people just dont have the time to read. Moreover, with Red Menace, people feel like we are addressing a sort of book club niche'.
So given that feedback, I want to try to experiment with some other options at the Book Club tier. I mentioned replacing the Book Club with an array of other options like reading articles, deconstructing a film, analyzing a song, doing a Call-In episode, and covering a recent news event. To various degree, many respondents liked this general idea and were encouraging of me trying to do it.
Moreover, not having to read a book on top of all the stuff I already have to read for RLR and Red Menace would mean I could keep a far more consistent monthly schedule (something that I haven't been able to do with the Book Club).
THEREFORE, I am going to try to do monthly episodes (STARTING THIS MONTH) over the next few months experimenting with a mixture of these other ideas. That will allow all of you to get a feel for what could replace the Book Club, and after a few months, we will revisit this question and people can decide if they want me to keep going with these new ideas, or if they want me to return to the Book Club.
In the next week or two Ill release my first Book Club Tier episode experimenting with these new ideas and we can go from there!
Thank you all so much for the continued support and for the feedback! I know a lot of you said you'd support the show no matter what I do, and that means a lot, but I also will continue to work as hard as I can to give back to you all in new and unique ways! Thank you for working through this with me and for helping guide me.
Love and Solidarity,
- Breht
P.S. I didnt reply to anyone on this specific issue just because I got so many replies, but I did read each and every one of them!

Sounds good! I'm excited to see what you've got planned. If I did not work behind a front desk (that has incognito mode), I doubt I would have been able to fit the reading either. I totally get where people are coming from. Expanding to films and videos would be cool as well, The Empire Files has some great short documentaries and such if youre taking ideas already. Thanks for all you do!
