Another Custodian Pack Update
🕑 Added 2020-05-06 14:14:00 +0000 UTCWell it is now 99.9% finished, not counting the reveal animations. Right now i'm at the sit rep making stage, first, the good news. I have this Advent Courier Sit Rep working just fine, but not quite how i envisioned it. In my head there would be 1 courier in the map and lots of Custodians, in practice however i don't have a way to force it to only be 1 courier, i could have Custodian Masters spawn too but then that would leave it up to RNG, so you could have a sit rep where there are no couriers, and i don't want that. So, i think i'll leave it like that and just modify the drop chances of for the courier to take into account that there are multiple of them.
As for the sit rep where i wanted you to fight a bunch of Custodians in a facility, it appears that plots(the map type essentially) can force a sit rep, for example the "abandoned" plot forces the "The Lost" sit rep, meanwhile, Sit reps cannot force a plot type, but they can exclude plot types. So i tried to make a sit rep that excluded every plot type but the "facility one" but it doesn't seem to work, my guess is that it can only exclude 1 plot type. And if i made the facility plot type force a custodian sit rep, then every time you went to a facility you would end up fighting tons of Custodians. So this sit rep is pretty much abandoned now.
The third sit rep i wanted to have just as an extra chance to fight Exalted Custodians, but this also has a problem, you see, when you make a sit rep that forces certain aliens to spawn, the sit rep essentially overwrites 2 "encounter lists" the "Leader" list and the "Follower" list, so for example in the case of the Courier sit rep, i replace the leader encounter lists with one that has only the courier, and the follower lists with one that only spawns Custodians and Mk2 Custodians(although at the moment i'm wondering if i should have Custodian Masters as followers too), the problem with the Exalted Custodians is that are neither of those. To be more specific, the Exalted Custodians are followers, but they can only spawn as followers of the Exalted Custodian Grandmaster, who is not set as a "leader" but as a "Boss", like the Gatekeeper and Sectopod. Now, i could set up the Exalted Custodian Grandmaster as a "leader" in this sit rep, but then you would fight multiple Grandmasters and multiple Exalted Custodians, and that would be too ridiculous.
Now, the Automated Defenses and Psionic Storm sit reps do force their own Boss pods, in the case of the Psionic Storm sit rep the only enemy that can spawn as a Boss is the Gatekeeper, while in Automated Defenses, the Sectopod is the only one that can spawn as a boss. I've tried to copy this but so far there have been no results, only Sectopods or Gatekeepers spawn as bosses, and the Exalted Custodians do not spawn at all. Mind you that means the Grandmaster CAN spawn as a boss in this sit rep, but it is not guaranteed. One alternative i can think of is to simply have Exalted Custodians spawn as leaders leading normal Custodians, but not the Grandmaster, but at this point i'm not sure.
TL;DR: What i'm trying to say is that i can guarantee that the Courier sit rep will be there, you'll get to butcher tons of Custodians and Couriers for a ton of money and resources, but that might be the only sit rep coming with this mod. Frankly i don't think there is a need to have more than that, the only reason i wanted the Exalted one is because that is what i did with the Pathfinder mod, but Pathfinders were not boss battles like the grandmaster so it was fairly straightforward to do, and fighting multiple Exalted Pathfinders is probably not as bullshit as fighting multiple Exalted Custodian Grandmasters and their entourage would be.
So, i'll try a little bit more and maybe try to reach a compromise with how i make the Exalted Custodian sit rep, but chances are that it wont be coming, and next up i'll start working on the reveal animations and that would be it, all that would be left is testing everything, making sure it works, and release it.
