Lesson learned. I was wrong. Butler isn't close to Wiggs. It may be true Butler makes Buddy a $20m shooter vs. a $8M shooter.
Joseph A White
After last nights game against the Celtics, Buddy seems to thrive on being a grenade catcher. If he gets a second to think about it he seems to miss more often than not.
deb m.
@Irritated Hahaha. That would be the other pleasant surprise.
Andreas Wiedemann
i wonder if it helps buddy. jimmy gonna act different then wiggins. maybe he gets a spark too..im interested how it looks when kuminga and jimmy are on the floor. also, since dennis is waived, can we get him back? he was traded in between..
joss gitlin
Same bro. Jimmy was so underrated on the heat but everyone in Miami knows how good he is. 3 deep playoff runs is no coincidence
Trenton Ramey
Not sure our front court needs more depth if we will make any type of run. Love Larry nance but i dont think thats enought to solve the problem
Bryan Yu
well said, i just need to see a couple of Jimmy Butler plays from the game to realize he is a lot better than Wiggins in terms of basketball instincts and intangibles. we are going to be fun as long as he stays healthy
balkonski15
We have to issue a book of Alch's comparison and allegories :)
yan't get right
@point gawd JK has been super patient. And he knows that if Butler is getting respect by doing his own thing, he will too. That being said, they could easily start small with JK and Hield. Or go big with Post spacing the floor at the 5. We've also had so many different starting lineups this season that trying pin down a single one is gonna be impossible. Stability is a myth for this team, but now we have really solid options
yan't get right
Jimmy one of the most hilarious stars in NBA history. He has an unbelievable skill for creating suspense, making you doubt his abilities in the public eye, just for him to show up and prove everyone wrong twice over. A win is a win!
Raymond Lyons
we still need to see if can play with butler. he had slight struggles playing with Wiggins. Jimmy a wiggins are similar in many ways so hopefully his play making can help him mesh with jk better.
caspuchiha .
I'm telling you, Jimmy might be one of the best "angles" players offensively I have ever seen. I am also a big time Miami Heat fan and I was sure you would change your mind about Jimmy really fast, if he was locked in on the Warriors and it looks like he is.
Natto Santo
agree but we get rejuvenated Steph and Dray, and Matured JK with the help of Jimmy. We should have the best small ball and could kill all big teams besides Denver and Cleveland
Natto Santo
Jimmy is just 4 times better than Iggy on O
Ezequiel Franzgrote
Alch could you talk about where you see Kulmination fit in this? And where his minutes might be coming from?
Chip Tingle
Can’t wait to add JK to this mix, but I’m confused on how JK/Jimmy/Dray thrive together on O. Wiggs’ biggest attribute was 1st option defender, and I’m intrigued to see how Dubs fill what may be a big hole, especially against quick PG’s like Dame, Kyrie, Ja, etc… Vibe shift was palpable, and I underestimated Jimmy on many fronts, especially making his teammates better, making the game easier on O. Damn, I miss Melton!!! I’d love to see him back if healthy this summer.
John Z
Ball movement needs to be more natural instead of forced.
Irritated Inanimate
McGee just turned 37 yrs old and has been waived twice in the last two years. What’s the vet minimum?
Irritated Inanimate
I can absolutely see that. I think Drays injuries are going to finish him off this season, I think he’s been fighting it for a while.
Michael E
Definitely going to be a better team with JB, especially if he stays healthy. And in terms of the Wiggs comparisons, it stops at the physical attributes. There is no comp in regards to tenacity, grit and leadership. Let us recall that when JB called out his teammates in Minnesota for being soft, it was obvious Wiggs was one of those he was referring to. Still, I hope he does well in South Beach, he will definitely help them, but Jimmy just might save us.
Michael Silberg
Draymond saw himself hours away from getting shipped to Phoenix by Joe Lacob and Mike Dunleavy Jr. Yeah, Steve Kerr stepped in for Draymond to kill that deal, but now he knows he's officially off the ride or die list with the front office. We already know Steph and Steve don't have full, royal unquestioned veto. That ice is a lot thinner than Day day thought and now everyone knows it. Looking for the young ones to get live and show out. Don't ask me how I know. Don't need subtitles.
Irritated Inanimate
Dray has two more years on his contract after this, his contract is lined up with Jimmy and Kerr’s, so he’s not going anywhere for awhile.
Irritated Inanimate
Untrue. But I’m hoping Buddy comes back into predictable form so you all can stop blaming him for everything and go back to just blaming Kerr
Irritated Inanimate
I think we can all agree with that, but it’s fun to have something to celebrate!
Irritated Inanimate
Podz is going to annoy the hell out of Jimmy just like he did to Steph and Draymond last year. 😆
Irritated Inanimate
I think Draymond’s injuries are going to sideline him again soon, so if JK is ready, he will be starting
Irritated Inanimate
Agreed! Just the effect he had on Podz’s play in the second half of the game alone was obvious. I can see Moody and Kuminga getting in on soaking up as much as they can from Jimmy, hope he’s ready to feed some young minds.
Irritated Inanimate
I’m anticipating Jimmy seeing Draymond for what Draymond is actually complaining about, not what he says he’s complaining about and hopefully sitting down to have a real talk about it. Jimmy has been in Draymond’s shoes, he’s been injured and he’s been taken for granted. I think he will be sympathetic to Draymond and they will be fine unless Draymond decides he’d just rather fight.
Irritated Inanimate
I would be surprised if Jimmy wasn’t confused and dismayed by the team play. Maybe he’ll pretend he can’t remember Kerr’s plays and give the younger players more time to continue to play freely. Kerr won’t want to be responsible for snatching away Jimmy’s joy after he just acquired it.
Irritated Inanimate
I don’t think we’ve seen any comebacks this season that resulted in a decisive win, have we?
Irritated Inanimate
Podz got into the starting line up more than anyone predicted he would last year. We have a ways to go before Quentin catches up to the same number of starting games played as Podz.
Irritated Inanimate
I still can’t figure out if they have the budget for an NBA contract for Knox. He didn’t qualify for two way
Irritated Inanimate
Isn’t he 39? Can’t remember
Irritated Inanimate
Intention is important. I think it’s really difficult to understand Wiggins mindset, why would you play at all if you’re not trying to win? The real difference is that Wiggs is an isolation player, he’s not really a team player. He’s more concerned with his performance than actually contributing to how the team plays. Jimmy is the opposite, he’s sees the floor abd, like Draymond, he sees all the potential movements and plays before they actually happen.
Irritated Inanimate
Let’s not forget that Moody has been doing his job relentlessly since he got back from injury
Irritated Inanimate
Draymond wasn’t going anywhere, it’s a nonstarter for Steph
Irritated Inanimate
He just needs NBA experience to become a better defender, so that means at least 20 minutes per game every game.
Irritated Inanimate
Jimmy has no excuses not to give it his all this season, he’s been resting for over a month and there are only 32 regular season games left. 31?
Irritated Inanimate
Why would you trade Kuminga when you need him in the second unit? We had a similar deficit against the Lakers on Thursday, I think Jimmy shows that they might have beaten the Lakers if he had been able to play.
Irritated Inanimate
I think that part took him by surprise, but he has no interest in people seeing him ask to get taken off the floor all the time.
Raymond Lyons
we are paying him 120mill. And I wouldn't have a problem getting Jimmy for Wiggins. we just payed him far to much. that prevents us from getting certain better pieces around them.
Irritated Inanimate
Fingers crossed
Raymond Lyons
I love both of them but they are both undersized. the league isn't like it was when we won our last championship. there are far more big dominant good rebounding centers in there was then. plus I'm not saying we need everything. Im not saying we need gafferd. I'm saying we need just a 6"11, 7ft strong athletic big.
Irritated Inanimate
Not bc enough spacing in the second unit, Buddy will get crushed continuously.
Irritated Inanimate
Schröder is much shorter, his function is completely different than Jimmy’s. Jimmy can direct play, but it’s not his responsibility.
Irritated Inanimate
Totally agree with everything you say here, I can see all of that. I was very concerned about his defense when transitioning from the G League, but he’s a much better defender than Trayce and I love any player that gets just as angry at himself as he does at anyone else because he’s likely self- motivated to do better which is necessary to survive on this team.
Irritated Inanimate
I like that Jimmy is making it his personal mission to get this team to the playoffs, that’s what you want for $55 million. I’m interested in how long the team can stand hearing Dray and Jimmy going back and forth over the best way to do that.
Irritated Inanimate
Lacob was coming of pocket to prevent potential public embarrassment and booing at Iggy’s jersey ceremony in two weeks. That’s worth $100 million, easy
Irritated Inanimate
Nice bump in the like count! Moses flexing is hilarious, he’s usually head down and all business. That nasty block near the end of the game had some sauce on it too, Mo looked unapologetic af! Agree with Gui as small ball five, this is actually brilliant because Gui has so much energy and bounce, but he can also stretch the floor as effectively as QP. Gui is a very creative, joyful player like Steph, I want to see him on the floor for longer stretches to see what he can do. Is Kerr going to finally learn to keep it simple for this team? Maybe Jimmy can force it on him. How many times in one season can Kerr be told the solution before he finally embraces it? And this is after he was getting signs all year last year as well. The universe is imposing its will on you, Kerr, if you don’t listen it will have its way eventually anyway, but you’ll be collateral damage. Love Jimmy’s old school post play, those younger players didn’t stand a chance against him. Draymond might be in pain again, he gets into his bag of antics when he’s this close to hurting himself so badly that he has to come of the floor. He’s also flat footed and hunched over a lot, his body seems very stiff when he’s not active and it feels like he’s conserving his energy or his pain tolerance by only moving at the last possible second. I give it a week or two after the All Star break at most before he’s out injured again. Love that Podz and Moody started breaking the paint more often, Podz used to be more aware of the right time to do that to collapse the defense. I think Jimmy can help him with that. I think that was the first time I’ve ever seen Stackhouse, Stotts, and Kerr all talk to each other at the same time during a game?
John Pettus
I do believe there is extra value unlocked when Steph plays with Draymond. But also extra bullshit when they both don't care about mid-regular-season games.
John Pettus
I was vociferously against Jimmy. I would LOVE to be wrong.
Claudio Cesar Esteffan Sepulveda
i am incredible excited about kumminga joining this new warriors
Neal X
We have Loon Dog and Trayce. Can't have everything. I definitely do like the idea of seeing what Kevin Knox could offer.
Point Gawd
This talk of JK coming back, I'm expecting Kerr will put JK in the second unit and start to make his minutes more conditional. You're not gonna acquire a 121million dollar player and bring them off the bench. But how could anyone start Steph, JK, Dray, and JimmyB?There'd be no spacing whatsoever, whomever the 5th player is. And if you bring Dray off the bench, you've already started the Dray slow burn at being supplanted by somebody, and that has never ended well. JKs gotta be looking at this development and figuring he's never gonna get his chance to star on this team, so time to move on.
Dale Happy Knowles
Hmmm!
Kenny Bobby
So far looks like we were wrong in the best way coach. We are different than we were a week ago. Jimmy and dray are a force.
Jimmy Ji
Kerr said Jimmy reminded him a lot of Iggy on the court. How many positions do you think he can play for us? He's probably skilled enough to play all 5 positions in Kerr's system. The shortened roster also provides clarity on everyone's minutes. If Jimmy can take JK under his wing and teach him to play through contact the way Jimmy does, we're going to be averaging top 5 in FTs/game in no time.
Ivan
oh, hello, Quentin :)
Raymond Lyons
I like Jimmy. I think he is a great player. the problem is we need him and Wiggins to be contenders. Wiggins as the 3rd guy but have been dangerous. Personally though i think we grossly overpaid Jimmy which kinda locked us up into a Jimmy Steph duo and made it so we can't get a 3rd guy. The warriors really need a athletic fast center like Daniel gafferd time for when post gets played off the floor .
Lee Schumacher
too big - Kerr would never do it. Got to have podz in there at least.
Shea Johnson
I was a big ass hater for this trade, but this 4th made me a believer.
Neal X
The biggest thing I can say about this is: I'm looking forward to watching the games again. Let's get JK back before we starting talking crazy about the Playoffs.
quantumferret
Worth noting that besides his 3pt shooting, Quentin Post’s best offensive skills in college were his touch on floaters and hooks and making the right simple passes out of the short roll. It’s nice to see him start to bring out the floater in the NBA, as that should be a plus skill for him. Generally speaking, I like his defense for a rookie center. Because he’s not the most mobile, when he gets beat it tends to look worse to people, but people also tend not to notice when he plays an excellent defensive possession because when he does, it’s usually about position and timing and discourages a shot attempt being taken at all. He doesn’t have light feet, but he has good footwork and very good hip mobility - case in point, that clip where he blocked Vusevic was quietly eye-opening, because he closed out full speed and then switched his hips and back-pedaled instantly as Vusevic drove. Post’s got a 9’4” standing reach in socks and shows some good defensive instincts, including trying to be vocal on defense. As he adjusts further to managing distance and schemes in the NBA, with Looney, Draymond, and Jimmy giving him tips and tricks and so on, I think he’s got a good chance to be an average to moderately above-average defensive center. Combine that with 40% on threes (and ~85% at the line if his college percentage carries over), a fairly efficient float/hook game, and making the right pass to open shooters and cutters, and that’s fantastic value for the 52nd pick.
D C
Jimmy butler slow play was what they was tryna get with Schroder just didn’t work out. But Jimmy see the floor and flow much better
e40
Agreed. I'm excited to see what happens.
Captain Rossco
Its only one game, but... In an ideal starting line-up, should Dray come off the bench? Steph, Jimmy, Gui, JK, Post. Size and spacing, two things we haven't had in years. Then you have Podz, Buddy, Moody, Dray, Loon off the bench.
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
Good pt. Differences that would make this more interesting though: 1) Jimmy won’t back down/run from the smoke a la KD, 2) nor will he be an easy choice if FO/Kerr has an either/or a la JP.
Johnny Marko
jimmy is a top 3 competitor in the league, he's had to fight for everything in life. compare that to wiggins, who had a privileged upbringing. wigs took the game for granted way too often imo. its going to be fun not having to yell at the screen for our wing to actually be aggressive
Dr. Sanjin
Well then Dray needs to be on a vet minimum when his contract is up.
thomas
Not only is Jimmy another voice for Steph, Dray, and his teammates... he's another voice for Kerr too. More likely to speak up about what he's seeing on the court, and hopefully help Kerr keep things simple instead of continuously over-tinkering with lineups. Gotta give Steve some credit though, love that he's continued to run with Post and even starting him. Pleasantly surprising
Nos Dollas
Not to predict the future but that Steph Butler pick & roll might be a giant killer. As Jimmy gets comfortable you can see all of the machinations that can be had, especially since Jimmy is the only other G/F besides Draymond that will actually make good physical screens for Steph. More room for Steph, more room for Jimmy to work from and unlike Draymond he can punish the 4on3 advantage repeatedly.
Sander Sokk
Jimmy himself said in an interview that he's extremely tired and not in shape, but "no worries, he'll get there"
Robert St.Claire
This looked pretty good, I know it was against the bulls, but we really haven’t had a convincing comeback in a while. The issue I have long term is how is butler, kuminga, and Draymond gonna work? Because butler overlaps with those two even more than Wiggins did. You gonna have to trade him likely if kuminga looks like he did when he comes back and we choose to keep him.
Tony H
I never questioned Jimmy's skills and abilities and motor.. For sure he would make the team better. It comes down to his injury timeline and potential tension during games that end up in losses. I'd like to see how they handle things. But can't lie, that game was actually pretty fun to watch down the stretch. Can't hate comeback games that end decisively. Not gonna lie though, seeing Jimmy happy playing basketball again felt.. pretty alright.
Ballin Forever
I think we all sort of really underrated how good of a playmaker Butler is... two finals in 5 years cant be a hoax. I love Wiggs as well.. but Butler is just much stronger and has better touch around the rim. A big question for us all is us wondering how much of playoff Jimmy is left in those legs.. but no doubt.. a healthy Jimmy is just simply a better player than Wiggs.
Ryan Farber
But it will make him more sturdy is my point. If he is stronger that can alleviate his already slow body. He can't get much slower ha.
Dr. Sanjin
Bulking up will probably make him slower.
Ryan Farber
What can QP do to improve as a defender? Seems like his skillset is solid offensively, but he is so slow on defense. Does he just bulk up to add size? Is there something he can do to improve his footwork?
Chris Thomas
Yeah if we gonna get calls like that from now on with Jimmy I’m excited lol we could make a run here in the back half of the season
Vincent
I’m sure you’re about to answer it but the question, especially when JoKu is back, is did we do the, ahem, right one for one….?
richard phan
if steph and jimmy can give us 60 a night combined i like our chances. Jk coming back will help us a lot w the scoring. And i like podz/gui/post too
deontae washington
The difference between Wiggins and Jimmy is mentality. Wiggins physical is more impressive than Jimmy he just isn’t the competitor that Jimmy is
Trenton Ramey
Why don’t we pick up javelle
Chaz G
Pleasantly surprised by Jimmy too. Maybe he what we needed. Had same scoring droughts we have every game, feel like we need 1 or 2 more shooters (depending on Buddy and Moody and feel like it will haunt us later). Would like them to call up Kevin Knox and see what he has.
Aaron Orrantia

glad you're optimistic Alch. Hope I can join you
BruceWayne
Podz got into the rotation. QP got into the starting lineup.
Athletic Alchemy
Come on now Guards don’t count Gary! 😀
Gary
The last player that stuck in the rotation like QP was Podz
Mitch Coob
Yep. All positive things considered, it was against one of the worst defensive teams in the league and we still saw some of the glaring issues that have plagued us up til this point. Jimmy will help a lot but there are still huge holes to fill.
Allan Preciado
Nice breakdown
deb m.
How is this realistic? Miami isn’t taking 35yo Dray over 20-something Wiggs for Butler. I get frustrated w/him, too, but who says there’s a market for the guy? Also, Kawakami is very confident that Steph will not allow Dray to be traded - even if there were a market - and we know Steph has that power. Given these constraints, I just want Dray’s mins to be limited. He can be valuable in short spurts, á la the Magic game.
Karim Q
Same. I'll finally feel good about this trade if we look improved against the Lakers/Clippers/any other teams we've been struggling against. But this is a nice start
Alaase Shambe
That Montoya crashout was legendary 🤣🤣 iykyk
Becky Lafrenz
I’m optimistic.
Gerald Seals
Thatpound dribble with the left hand to step back 3 by Steph 🤦🏾♂️🔥 at 9:18 on this vid was insane!!!!
Shantel
We are so back!! Hahah just kidding. But you can tell they are excited for something different—especially Steph. He was having fun again!
Crimson
Yea, our joy is back. Let's keep this going.
Mitch Coob
Fun second half, not getting my hopes up until I see us perform against some contenders tho. We’ve seen how this goes too many times already this season lol.
Point Gawd
The smiles all around, that's to be expected at the start. The question is, when adversity hits, how does Dray respond when Jimmy B clearly indicates Dray has been relegated to one step down from where Dray thinks he belongs. History indicates that when that happens Dray crosses the insult line (e.g., KD) or the physical altercation line (e.g., JP). If he crosses either line with JB he is going to have met his match, as all bullies eventually do. The fallout is going to seriously harm the team. SO, if they avoid adversity, schedule the parade now. If adversity comes, pull up a chair for the fireworks.
Tyler Durden
Jimmy changes the team energy, its there. He will Will this team to become a winner again. Like Alch, I wasnt in favor of getting Jimmy. I am so wrong. Something about Wiggs was draining for the team. Jimmy is a winner. I'm willing to role the dice with his idiosyncrasies.
Natto Santo
Alch, you should get hired as the coaching staffs, you point out all the strengths and weakness Kerr can never see.
Ryan Koppelman
Your take at the end about the team thinking maybe this is better than we expected reminds me of some of the surprise around the GP over Avery Bradley decision. Bigger stakes here but this could be a significant upgrade assuming health especially if we can get to a play-in or even play-off spot.
Luke Zhang
Swap Draymond in the summer for a front court player that can actually do something on offense and we might be cooking
Trice
Seeing Jimmy out there made a believer that this could look better. We definitely look like we can win a play-in now. With JK coming back will the lineup be, Steph, Jimmy, Dray, JK, Post/Hield? Or, will he keep JK coming off the bench like we know he will.
Ryan Mitchell
It’s been a minute - I actually looked forward to watching a Warriors game. LFG
Ben
I had the same mindset of why Jimmy wasn't in during the second quarter when things got stagnant.
Tyler Durden
you dont have to be fooled. Jimmys energy is real. He will make this team a winner...guar-run-teed !
Andrew Lee
I feel like yall doom in the comments too much ngl. Let's wait and see how this pans out, but so far I'm loving Jimmy's dawg mentality on this team. Steve even mentioned how his presence alone is helping bring confidence back to everyone else, which was part of what plagued us this past season. I'm optimistic 🤷♂️ also a happy Steph makes me happy. And he looked hell of a lot happier tonight.
Jansen E
Heild, Dray and Kerr continue to be the main reasons why this team won’t be able to get out of its own way. The bulls are awful in their own right. How we let them build a 24pt lead to begin with shows how pathetic we are. And then blowing that lead shows how bad they are. So long as Dray continues to hunt curry on every position, and Kerr continues to start Heild and let him do whatever the fuck he wants. We will continue to be a .500 team. I’m so sick of watching Buddy. I don’t care how many 3s he hits. He gives it up on the other end almost every time.
Ryan becker
The podz jimmy combo looked nice
Jansen E
Repeat after me everyone: I WILL NOT BE FOOLED BY THE HONEYMOON PHASE. Say it again. Slowly. I WILL NOT BE FOOLED BY THE HONEYMOON PHASE. Now that first half was a spectacle. Alch you said the lakers first half was rock bottom and I told you it could get worse. It was a fun comeback. I watched this game live. Which is rare because I usually record them. But I wanted to see in real time how they incorporated Jimmy into the offense. It’s nice that Jimmy can get a whistle when he wants. It’s crazy to me that Post is already better than TJD by a landslide. I would say defensively they’re probably same: kinda bad, but serviceable in spurts. A vintage Curry flurry was refreshing to see. Been a while since we’ve seen one. Was this an uplifting win? Yeah. But again. I said 6-8 games max on the honeymoon phase. It looked fun last night. But this .500 team also beat OKC twice, but lost to Toronto and Utah, are we forgetting that? 8 games people. Let’s see what happens after this honeymoon phase is over.
Maksim Petrushin
Im not believing these mfs until I see 5 straight 4 quarter leads not blown
Shamir Wilson
Ready for Jk to come back.
NoGroupThink
“no ocho” was wild lmao vintage alch
Dial T for Tech
Exceeded my expectations! :)
Sarcasm 360
You saw who wasn’t on the court when that flurry happened right? No Hield no Dray, I mean I said this when Jimmy was first rumored, why is it Wiggins when it should be Dray who gets traded, they’ll regret this for a while. And can I PLEASE be freed from watching Kerr coach? GIVE JIMMY THE BALL. Good second half recovery though
