Kuminga`s IG post tho

According to the NBAās stats website, no Warrior takes more shots per game in the space between 8 and16 feet away from the hoop than Kuminga ā who is making just 30.8% of the 2.5 shots heās taking there per game.

Yeah. Itās such a bully move tbh. Reckless use of the podium
Sensible Gooner
What a cop out from Kerr. We lost 9 of 11 games mostly because of Kerrs bad rotations and our two best players not closing games. Then we get a win where the young guys played well and what does Kerr do, he basically comes out and blames them especially JK for the bad run. What a joke. There have been games this season that We won because of JK predominantly.
Neal X
But we have Kyle Anderson to take more of Dray's minutes on nights when it's clear he doesn't have it... which I and others have been saying is the obvious answer since the beginning of the season...
Shantel
I think they are on YouTube the sports Bay Area channel

Where do you watch the interviews/press conferences? Iāve only found highly edited clips, would love to see the whole press availability.

Lotta positive signs, and I honestly didnāt expect this without Dray. Maybe they do defer to him too much? Thanks for going shot by shot with JK after that postgame rhetoric from Steve. I didnāt notice it in-game either, and support JK getting his middie and FT% game together like no one else can on this roster. Kerrās only coming up on 60 by the way. Did you catch him talking surfing the other day before actual questions started? Dudeās taking good care. Deep roster win - Wiggs D, Steph O/close out, TJD/Loon combine for 17 boards, Podz stat stuffer hustle, Dennis adding a missing piece that makes everyone better. Consistency of energy/effort?! Especially D/boards?!
Michael E
I imagine Steph doomscrolling X to kickstart his "what they gonna say now" gene, and for one game the petty King emerged triumphant. My guy Schroeder was the X factor, and it will only get better. The vibe I'm getting around JK is "trade deadline". Go Dubs.
Neal X
Fair enough. I hardly have the inside scoop, was purely speculating.
AK
Watched the game after watching the postgame then Alchs breakdown and tbh, it seems like Kerr's comments were directed at JK not necessarily Podz. Which is fucked up. He's been one of the bright spots through the recent struggles. Anytime he's played over 30mins, the results are obvious
Neal X
Fair enough, but it was so blatant to my eyes it was hard not to feel like there's some kind of conspiracy against us with this crap...
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
Exactly. And, to be fair, I think itās super admirable that Dray has taken responsibility for the problem and done as much he has to get his shot back. For all his faults, dude really is a champion thru & thru. But, nevertheless, the situation is what it is.
Ehren Muehlenbruch
steve is such a dick
Mike Peterson
Ejikeme: 100% I'd take it one step further - it's not just JK that doesn't fit with Dray. More than half the roster doesn't work with Dray because you can't play him with non-spacers AND you can't play him with drivers because his guy is zoned up in the paint. Lately you can't even play him with Steph because Steph is not beating traps with his bum leg. Draymond still has the occasional night where he's a game-changing defender but it's not worth having a flat tire on offense all the time. I think everyone realizes this, even Steve, but he's like an addict. The worse the Dray problem gets, the more defensive Steve gets. The first step is admitting you have a problem.
Paul Hanson
I donāt think thatās what the issue was. Listen to Alchās YouTube breakdown of this game and heāll get into what Iām talking about and I agree with him. JK did a lot of things right in the game, but it seems like thereās almost no room for even a couple of mistakes.
yan't get right
Can't have it both ways though. If it's not a "Kerr vs. kuminga" thing then its definitely a "Steph vs The Youth" thing that Kerr just becomes the spokesperson for. There's plenty of coaches who would allow a player like JK a longer leash and if Kerr is not that coach, then it's either "Steph Curry's inability to adapt and Kerr enabling it", or we're back at it being Steve's personal thing against Kuminga. Either way, the org is too focused on protecting the past. Just pick your sticking point, it's still the same big issue
yan't get right
all roads point to us empowering the youth already on our roster, reducing Steph's minutes (and increasing his longevity) and seeing what kind of team we can be with that
yan't get right
yeah and the thing to let go of is the curry-led offense. just works in our favor that we have really talented, athletic and capable young guys who have maintained promise under less than ideal development "circumstances" for several years
yan't get right
An empowered JK, Podz, & Trayce will feed families across the Bay Area for the next decade
Chaz G
Wolves GM lineup made no sense at all. The biggest problem for this team is Kerr doesn't know who and how to utilize them. Looney should be backup 5 period. TJD with Steph makes all the sense. He puts pressure on the rim, which Looney doesn't. It helps with the O.
Alex Kay
Indeed, every TJD finish was a foul!
Gary
Love the video highlights of Kerr not applauding JK. Thatās def telling. Kerr just doesnāt like someone whose vision is to become Derozan. I think Dennis talking up the kids is about trying to be a positive in the locker room so he can get another deal. Heās outta the league if this ends badly
TJ Maccc
I saw TJD mouth, āI wanted to go up on that motherfuckerā talking about Rudy 𤣠he ultimately did like the next possession I believe ⦠first time I seen him have the emotion he did. AND⦠did we see a pump fake from him?! Or am I trippin? We been looking for a pump fake from TJD.. good game from that boiii
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
Although the scene from last nightās net fiasco looked more like what alc described š¤£
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
The Alc observation wasnāt nothing, but several people who have a more behind the scenes view have emphasized the opposite. Specifically Slater & Krysten Peek have both emphasized that JK is a very hard worker and very focussed on his game.
Anthony Berry
Fact it is a JOKE and will never be a "PLAN" is the sad part. The guy who is "WASHED" was on the bench with an ankle last night. His defensive prowess this year reminds me of Klay's shooting prowess last year. 1 great game, 9 shitty ones.
Jalen Kennedy
Which leads me back to my point. Free him and let him figure it out somewhere else. I donāt see that happening in golden state under any circumstance. Sometimes you have to know when to let go.
Jalen Kennedy
I can see the thing with Dray. However, with a limited jumpshot and lackluster decision making, itās only so far you can take that unless you are as dominant as shaq or Giannis.
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
LOL. Except, deep down, Asian parents actually like you.
Athletic Alchemy
We have to focus too much on the Refs lately, I didnāt want to have to spend more time on it.
Carla Davis
That's fair about Steph and Dray. They all have cost us games, including kuminga. And kuminga and steph/dray are not the same and shouldnt be treated as such. Regardless, I just don't like kuminga's game. I said I may be the only one that feels this way but I don't see him being the future of the warriors. Imo he doesn't fit and it would be better for everyone including kuminga if he were traded. If it's playing time he needs, then he needs to go to a team that is trying to tank to get the playing time. People saying it's about playing time aren't really paying attention. Even though he wasn't starting he was playing the 4th most mins. There are teams where he can go and play all the mins he wants and maybe we can get a player that is ready now. That has been the warriors problem for the last couple of seasons. Now vs later. They need to choose. if it's later then trade steph and dray.
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
I think the problem for the FO is that itās not about fitting JK with āthe rosterā. Itās about fitting him with Draymond. And itās hard to trade away a promising 22 year old because he doesnāt fit with your 34 year old with a bad back. Like it or not, when JK has been given the car keys, heās won ball games more often than not. The FO watches what he did to the Rockets defense and has to wonder⦠If it was between JK and 22-year-old Draymond, Lacob would personally drive JK all the way back to the Congo if he had to. But itās not.
Nos Dollas
I will definitely agree with that.
Neal X
We're all just speculating at this point, we won't know what goes on behind closed doors, but if I had to guess, I think Kerr may not like Kuminga's attitude and/or work ethic, and this is just based on Alch's comments from back when he saw JK's warmup routine being very half-assed. That's not a big sample size, sure, but it does say something about him. Kerr (like any coach) likes guys who put in the work and demonstrate that professionalism.
Anthony Berry
Better idea leave that Cesspool. Join BlueSky. Slater is on there and so are some of us here. We can build a NON-TROLL community and have honest discussions. I never joined X because of its toxicity in the 00's and today MAN.
Neal X
Kind of surprised you didn't mention the reffing shenanigans, the tech on Podz, and numerous no-calls on TJD just getting absolutely grabbed and hammered on offense multiple times. Warriors bench was in an uproar.
Neal X
There I have to disagree, CP3 was a huge boost to the young guys and it's good to have another vocal leader on the team who isn't Draymond. CP3 was just small and old on the court, so he was still not a net positive in the end, but we knew that was probably going to be the case going in, it was the just the best of the bad situation called Jordan Poole. Water under the bridge at this point.
Anthony Berry
Thanks for the shout-out Unc and for throwing my guy JK some BAIL. Kerr is impossible PODZ can do no "Wrong" and JK/Mood haven't done a positive thing for 3. 2 seasons. I used to guide young collegiate minds for over 15 years and you don't have different rules for each student it is counterproductive. And like Bruce says and I said on Discord last night that fouling drawing with those exact shots got us in the BONUS which is how we closed as you pointed out with that McDaniels foul on Steph. 4 minutes of bonus with guys trying to rob Steph and Schroder I'll take it. Got another game Monday so I can say this twice possibly beforehand, EVERYONE have a HAPPY HOLIDAY whatever one you celebrate.
James arnoth
Is it really controversial to say āat least look for another shot before taking arguably the worst shot in basketball (contested midrange pullup) after the first passā? Everyone is making this a kerr vs jk thing as if any other coach wouldnāt be annoyed with 90% of their roster taking an early contested mid range? Thereās very few guys in the league that would take that shot and their coach is perfectly cool with it. At this point, it feels like weāre looking for any look, comment, or vibe to confirm this kerr vs kuminga issue.
Billy Roberson
Yeah but at least make Steph beat you and make a play rather than let him fire away uncontested 3s, terrible gameplan. Plus there are clips in here where Naz Reid is doing the same thing so it must be schematic
James arnoth
Rudy has bambi legs any time he gets brought out to the perimeter so theyāre basically forced to play drop. If heās at the level of the screen, steph is either gonna reject the screen and drive into the lane, or turn the corner on him and drive into the lane.
Sarcasm 360
I have yet to see his mistakes cost a game as much as veteran turnovers, lackadaisical defensive, and really Dray and Curry just flat out dogging it has caused this ridiculous now 3-11 down slide.
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
JK needs spacing to attack the rim. But there are too many key players on the team (Dray, Loon, GP2) who provide no spacing at all. Thatās the issue. When you have him in lineups with spacing - like against the Rockets - he looks unstoppable. When the middle is clogged up, he looks a lot less impressive. Yet mouth breathers on Twitter just evaluate him with no context whatsoever. āHeās inconsistent!ā
Carla Davis
I might be the only one that feels this way but I just don't like kuminga's game. I'm trying to like it. I'm trying to see what everyone else sees but I don't. He should have went to college for a couple of years. He's one of those players that you can use in ab argument about why players need at least 2yrs of college before coming into the league. Your not guaranteed to get a lot of time on the court to figure it out especially if your on a team that is expected to contend every year. The it's no time for him to make mistakes if those mistakes cost a game because every game counts on the west. I think we should trade him and get someone that can be more helpful now. He's not worth a max. They are keeping him for what he may become but there is no guarantee. Your argument is that he doesn't know what to do but mine is he should just play his game but I don't think he knows what his game is. And that's a big issue for me. He needs to find out what HIS game is.
Jalen Kennedy
Idk man. The more we try to figure out the conundrum of how Kuminga fits within this roster, the more I feel they are justified in finally moving on from him. For me, he can be an empty calorie stat guy somewhere else, blossom and I wouldnāt see it as a loss because more often than not, his play style doesnāt necessarily translate into winning basketball.
BruceWayne
Did the FO tell Kerr to stop fucking around and play JK for a significant period so they can figure out what they have, while Kerr doesnāt want to? It looks like it from what Kerr is saying and how heās acting.
ACowNamedStan
ALC can you please post these kuminga points to Twitter? The whole fanbase is in his and podz necks, and The points you make provide excellent context
deb m.
I replayed it 3x! Like, what did I just see?? Yay, progress! š
Luke Zhang
Kerr is giving me Asian parent vibes where they want you to succeed but in their way. Not to mention a couple weeks ago they basically anoint Kuminga into the starting role and bench Draymond and now heās not starting even when Draymondās out. Make it make sense Steve Loving Schroderās energy, heās similar to Draymond but can actually break a defense and get a bucket which prob takes so much mental stress off the young guys. Podz and TJD seem to be sliding back into their natural roles. Not to mention Steph has gotta be happy to have Schroder on his side, like all those years ago when he was pushing for Avery Bradley bc Bradley always gave him hell
BruceWayne
JK drew critical fouls and made FTs when we needed them. Crickets from Kerr.
BruceWayne
Itās because Melton played so few games and went down in the only game he had a real impact on.
Andrew Lee
Trayce played excellent

Ejikeme Uzoigwe
Agreed. It was actually annoying and a bit surprising tbh.
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
Iām too jaded to believe in a Schroeder impact on the young guys. This has happened before with Chris Paul and even Donte. A new vet comes on board and starts talking up the young guys and getting them involved. After a while they learn the lunch room politics and that shit gets deaded.
Sarcasm 360
Trayce did a what?!?!????

One thing kuminga never got as a young player is the ability to make mistakes.Especially young scorers.Young steph ,klay,jp got it.Even outside the warriors.I watch ant, wagner, jaylen brown. You name it.There are stretches where they are gonna struggle. Defences are gonna key in on them etc.Taking the next is not gonna happen only in the gym.Got to get the bumps and bruises out the way.No matter what the fans and the rest of the team feels.Kerr does not believe in him
Athletic Alchemy

mr.bean
the kuminga and kerr thing is just weird. You have to trade him because we know kerr is not leaving. Not even becuase kuminga is bad but because they dont mix.You put him on the floor all season with players that dont want to score or shoot.of course it gonna be ugly.He is playing next gp2,dray,looney,kyle,podz without andrew and steph.
Anthony English
Been saying this, Alch. The whole situation seems to be a coach in his feelings instead of maximizing the talent he has. We've spent a minute worrying about Podz' confidence but think about Moody and JK who've had Inconsistent playtime and roles since they were drafted. We literally had Lamb and Jerome playing more than them...... it's Kerr, guys. We've racked up about 5 Kerr loses already this season with agendas and weird rotations
Chris Thomas
Kerr is pissing me off when it comes to Kuminga and Iām now officially on the trade Kuminga train bc Kerr has no idea how to develop stars! Kuminga is a star and if we empowered him to be him, he would add a dynamic we need on this team bad but no Kerr wants him to be like Draymond when heās twice the scorer Draymond is. It doesnāt make any sense and I donāt want young bro to miss out on money bc he has a stubborn old coach that wonāt adjust for a new star
Athletic Alchemy
Ngl Iām starting to feel its personal for Kerr
Athletic Alchemy
We did! Canāt believe I forgot that!!
Sarcasm 360
I was genuinely heated seeing Kerr say what he said in a win after yanking this kid around all season on top of not having shit to say after a 2-11 skid ending in a 50 point blowout and only having āIām not worriedā as a response to an embarrassing performance
Diego
Bench kuminga or start him either way give him consistently. Kerr just doesnāt trust him yet. Do you think ke just forgot and let go those ālost faith in Steve Kerrā comments? I think at a certain point we should just trade him because itās looking kinda weird rn.
Robert
7:41 in the first quarter, we got our first trayce pumpfake!!
Athletic Alchemy
That was my thought too.. Getting Jimmy for a package centered around Dray would make sense in a lot of ways. Hence the joke in the open
Sarcasm 360
Canāt have nice things though, Steve Kerr after all these losses, has to rely on the young guys who gave good production and after finally getting a win he chooses NOW to yell at them for ānot getting g Steph the ball?ā Why? Genuine admission that the lack of agenda-less basketball is a result of Steve Kerr and Draymond. What curry said after the game however runs completely counter to Kerr: āAnybody who plays with me has to play decisive and confident. Youāre okay with the mistakes as long as theyāre done with the mindset of being aggressive. Iām cool with that.ā
Sarcasm 360
This was better. Kuminga using that deadly pump fake again, Podz sticking to the little things only, Trayceās existence, this was good. Ngl we talking about trading Wiggs because heās the āonly big contract,ā but Iām throwing Dray out, we donāt need somebody to complicate handing Steph the ball (and turning it over). Build off THIS.
Athletic Alchemy
Breakaways donāt count š
Athletic Alchemy
That was my point in the video. Kerr is hurting him with the mixed messages
Nos Dollas
I luv you Alch but your sports pessimism is something I don't share with you. As long as you and I have watched ball you should know nothing is ever as good or bad as it seems. The question is if JK can be that option 1 in time for Steph to be the option 2. I'm not convinced but understand he's not been given the opportunity soo....
Nick Elliston
Still trying to fit in and need the shots to go down, but I'm glad you highlighted that clip of Schroeder with Podz & JK. Schroeder's been vocal with the young guys and they seem to respond well to it. Similar to when CP3 was here last season.
Mitch Coob
Love the energy Dennis is bringing
Athletic Alchemy
Right āhe should be a 6th man right nowā that was my point. Not thatās what we should or would do. But if we had drafted better and things had aligned properly. Bron too!

Haha, TJD finished with one hand on a dunk!
Ken Bradford
The first thing to go as a superstar gets older is consistency. Fewer scoring outbursts and more lows. Thatās been Stephās season so far. I feel like people point to the Olympics as prove that he still has it, while conveniently forgetting that he was pretty bad until the last 3 games. I hear the argument about roster quality but I feel like LeBron, cp3 and Steph up until now have skewed our expectations for how good they can be at 37. At the very least Iām not sure that there is any trade out there that can get us over the hump. But who knows how he looks 3 weeks from now. Wouldnāt be happier to be wrong.
Billy Roberson
Minnyās defense is kinda terrible. If you watch, almost like the first 6 or 7 shots that Steph got were WIDE open because the bigs sat in a drop and left NAW and McDaniels out to dry. I donāt understand how thatās the scheme against any shooter, much less Steph Curry, if you give him clean look after clean look, of course heās putting 30 on you
Kenny Bobby

Kerrās comments definitely sounds like someone who moves goalposts or expectations for someone they donāt like. Heās always talking about JKās shot selection (which like you said Alch, wasnāt egregious) and doesnāt even show any excitement or joy when he scores, but only when he makes the extra pass. Honestly I thought we was over this last year but it seems Kerr just doesnāt like Kuminga as a basketball player and it feels like even as a person sometimes
Paul Hanson
Great points about the messaging to JK. I thought he played well within the framework of being a team player. In the press conference Steve said his young players have to play within the Steph rules paradigm-donāt take contested mid range jumpers with 14 seconds on the shot clock-pass it around like that Dennis pass to Steph for the 3 possession at the end. Thatās not a good way to develop any type of options if thatās the only way to play. I understand what heās trying to say but itās all tied to Steph or nothing. I guess thatās why he signed a two year extension.
Athletic Alchemy
