was that a Clarance Thomas reference? LOL. Hair on the coke?
Athletic Alchemy
Could be a terminology issue. I like the term “stay in front” or “shade” they are just open up
Athletic Alchemy
I hear you, I’d pack it in early if they get up big
Athletic Alchemy
I’m down to move moody and Trayce. All trades are a gamble, but those are the 2 I’m most willing to give up.
Athletic Alchemy
Right, Are you that guy or not!?
Athletic Alchemy
I’d like to see Slomo play the 5 tbh
Athletic Alchemy
Yup 😆
Athletic Alchemy
JK got a real chance. I didn’t think on ball stuff would advance like this. He’s pretty patient for such a big athlete. Usually doesn’t go hand in hand.
Athletic Alchemy
I think it’s volume. If he just lets it fly he should shoot 40%
thomas
You mean would the Wizards go for it? Yeah I think so, Melton would just be a salary dump for them. They're getting two young players with Moody having some upside as a potential bench scorer of the future (plus familiarity with Poole). We would definitely have to throw them a pick or two, maybe one first and one second? But looking like the Dubs are mainly looking for a shooting guard soooooo I'm just spinning my wheels over here lmao we'll see!
Chaz G
The trade machine wrong. Had to look it up but he's eligible to be traded after dec 15
Chip Tingle
Maybe the deepest, most soulful team win yet. Continued gratitude onya Alch!
Ben Whitaker
Trayce is disappointing. I like the Looney Dray platoon way better
Ben Whitaker
cant trade moody till next year bc of his new contract
Neal X
If Val can run the floor then you've definitely convinced me. Bey sounds like he'd be a Moody upgrade. Question is, would they actually go for that trade, with Melton as questionable as he is?
Rudraansh Shaunak
Do you see anything mechanically wrong with lindy’s shot or do you feel it’s just a confidence thing with him because it seemed like he couldn’t miss before and now he can’t buy one. And I saw that defensive play and thought the same thing about ice defence thing, are they being coached that way you think?
thomas
Claxton is $28.4m per year. Melton, Moody, and TJD combine for $20.5m (Moody is only $5.8m outgoing despite the misinformation out there), so who else are you giving up? JK, GP2, Buddy, Loon, or Kyle Anderson? That's my main point, this is a realistic trade (in that the Wiz might say yes) that we can make without trading any essential "system-fit" players. Also just double-checked, Wizards play at a higher pace with JV on the court than the Dubs have played overall this year, so he would probably adjust to the team's schemes pretty quickly. A good screen setter, passer, and he can hit a midrange jumper AND trailer 3s? Sounds like the best we can get for that relatively low price, not to mention the potential upside of Bey.
Neal X
We need a big who can rim protect and run the floor. The lob threat could open up JK's game and greatly help our offensive spacing, and ideally eliminate our collapsing defense issue. So I agree, Val may not be the guy for that, but I'd say Claxton would be.
TJ Maccc
Dray with that aggressive ass "night night" He said yall going to sleep and ain't waking back up LMAO
Jansen E
Great breakdown Alch. Looney is still a beast. I think we still need a trade but I hope Kerr keeps giving Kuminga these opportunities. Tighten up the dribble and we could have ourselves a diamond.
Daniel Fries
you what'd you call Loon? Ka-Long Dong? damn you were on fire for this one
Dr. Sanjin
I feel that, and thought about putting him in that list but he does a lot of good cutting and stuff around the rim that I gave him a pass on the 3s. If teams are afraid of our shooting they will sag off him more which will allow him to be sneaky around the rim.
Gsw4L
GP2 shooting 16% from 3
Gsw4L
Melton, GP2 & two 2nd
Branden Edwards
They can be. Pain is definitely worse and it can be a chronic issue. Wouldn't be surprised if a month after he returns he misses a random game because of it again
Athletic Alchemy
I knew what I was saying lol
Athletic Alchemy
uhhh! damn that sounds worse

I didn't subscribe to that narrative, I was mad when KD joined him cause I wanted him to prove to the world he was MJ and LeBron league, a generational star. But at this stage, with all the rings and etc I just wanted to get a superstar or even a star to help the heavy i2 game season load. It's much easier than carrying the load the entire season.
Karim Q
Who are you sending for Vooch? I like what he could bring on the offense, but he wouldn't help much on defense at all.
Dale Happy Knowles
The narrative that Steph Curry needs a superstar to win is rooted in bias against him—a light-skinned, green-eyed, undersized, Christian guard—being in the same conversations as Michael Jordan or LeBron James. They did something similar to downplay Kobe Bryant's greatness. But Steph continues to defy all odds. He has more championships per elite support player than Jordan, Kobe, or LeBron. Out of his four rings, he only had an elite teammate for two, and even then, the MVP awards were heavily influenced by the gravitational pull created by Steph and Klay. Both Splash Brothers deserved MVP recognition for their clutch performances. I don’t want Golden State to trade for a superstar because it would only give the naysayers ammunition to diminish Steph’s legacy. --- This version preserves the undersized descriptor while maintaining a polished flow.

An impingement isn't the same thing as a sprain. A sprain is when the tissue stretches or tears, an impingement is the tendon being pinched between bones

like a virus bro. as if folks haven't been watching the franchise fail to ween steph/dray/kerr off of the 6'6' and under motion offense for the last 5 years
A Wolfeld
You missed a Pause talkin about Gobert being used to getting blasted in the face 🤣
Chaz G
Kerr not using him like he's valuable. Would be willing to include him in a trade for a starting center or backup PG like Schoder all I'm saying
Karim Q
Even if Anderson isn't getting enough minutes, he's still valuable enough that we shouldn't think about trading him for a rotation player. Moody & Melton, sure
yan't get right
Kuminga just like any apex predator: you gotta feed the scoring appetite if you want to see him play defense
Ejikeme Uzoigwe
I was happy when they lost homecourt advantage so I’d get an extra Warriors game in Houston. This is even better - it’s sort of can’t lose from an in arena shit talking perspective.
Chaz G
1. JK growing. Should of been gave him this shot. Only thing I wish is for handle to get better 2. If JK staying in the starters. I still think we should go back to day 1 starting group with Wigs at the 2. 3. I was thinking we needed a superstar but honestly Steph doesn't, he needs someone to help share the load. If Buddy does his part and or someone else like JK we win more often than not. 4. Honestly I would target Vuevic from chi. A big that shoot the 3? He would unleash this roster along with JK. Plus the scoring. Prob need a draft pick but giving up Melton and Moody or Andersen would work (neither getting mins) 5. Would like more mins for Andersen, but he doesn't fit great , and could use him to target a big and or a pg

Glad you mentioned the Ant/Draymond thing. I didn't like it either. And I totally feel ya (watched the live stream after) on how Dray does this with some other players, too.
Sarcasm 360
Final thought, Trayce needs to play with much more force as Draymond at the 5 is not sustainable give him another chance, but why take out Trayce the ONE DAY you want to run pick and roll heavy offense vs Rudy?
Dr. Sanjin
If this team is making their open looks they can go far. Any trades should focus on dudes who consistently make their open looks. Its so deflating doing hella work on defense only to miss an open three and then watch them hit open 3 after open 3. Buddy, Podz, and Moody need to be more consistent.
Dr. Sanjin
They could just play the young guys for the cups games. Bring up Post too.
Gary
Steph's celly was def cuz his knees are shot. He's just doing a golf trot. but the draymond night night was such a hideous impersonation. Like a kindergartner who just learned it. don't steal steph's move, for a december game of all things...
Jimmy Ji
Don't be messin' with Alch on the live stream! He's comin' after y'all! *Sarcasm*
thomas
I mean no one in the world is gonna stop Jokic from putting up numbers lol. You really don't think his post scoring would help? Plugging him in off the bench as a reliable paint scorer in non-Steph minutes could be pretty valuable. I realize our pace would be tough for him but you also gotta consider how much the game can slow down during the playoffs. Who would be your ideal "stretch-5" player that they could realistically get?
95TillInfinity
You make a good point about Draymond picking and choosing his battles. If I’m his teammate I’m calling him out on that. He pushed your young guy right in front of the bench and you of all people wanna play peacemaker. NAHHH
Mikey H
that Drey dunk on gobert was poetic
G 2tha P
Jokic avg 25-12-9 against Valanciunas. He averages 20/11/7.5 against Looney. These ideas about players the Dubs could/should trade for, spread across the community like a virus. Valanciunas doesn’t help us. Would it be nice to have some more size down low? Sure. But with the way this team plays, it needs to be more of a stretch 5 type player. Someone who would probably play the 4 on most teams. Getting a big lumbering old school 7fter isn’t the answer

Even if he isn't great defensively, I'm for it because it could unlock Kuminga even more. And unlocking JK more means we spread the floor and unlock Steph, Buddy, and Lindy more. I hope Dunleavy understands how much a true big could have a cascade effect on our whole team concept, even if Kerr doesn't lol.
Neal X
Went street baller on him.
thomas
Another great breakdown Alch, appreciate you!! As great as JK has looked recently, it's clear we still need another piece or two to maximize this roster's potential. One trade idea: Melton, Moody, and TJD to the Wizards for Valanciunas and Saddiq Bey. It's not some huge blockbuster, but it's a realistic trade that answers some of our biggest issues and wouldn't require any essential pieces. Would likely need to throw them a couple picks to make it enticing enough for them. Valanciunas is a true big to play against tough centers (Zubac, AD, Jokic, Sabonis, etc) and a reliable post-scorer for when our shots aren't falling. Also a great screener+passer so he would fit perfectly. Bey would be a little risky considering he still doesn't have a timetable for a return from his ACL (likely Jan-Feb), but he'd be perfect as a go-get-a-bucket scorer off the bench. Both on relatively affordable 3-year deals ($9.9m for Val, $6.4m for Bey), which lines up perfectly with Steph and Dray's last couple years. Thoughts?

RESPECTS TO LOONDOGG.
Mike Peterson
The math on dogging the Houston game makes sense, but playing to lose feels bad. And it always seems to bite you in some way. Same thing as finessing your playoff seed to dodge a matchup. Don't tempt the basketball gods. Much as I love to bitch about Dray, that night-night dunk is going in the tribute/retirement video. Classic Draymond moment.

Pods is Santa Clara strong
Viet Huy Vu
I think the angle issue is from coaches not getting through to the player on what we want to do. Moody start out every season with it, then clean up late at the end of last 2 season. Lindy does it, Kuminga does it, Podz does it sometimes too.
AK
Looney.. can't say enough about this guy. Definition of 'ol reliable. Even through this tough stretch if there's been one player that hasn't looked as bad as the others, it's him. Be like Loon
Sarcasm 360
One thing that I’ve held in the back of my mind, Kerr tries to use motion offense to generate offense as a primary action, but looking over another breakdown, I’m seeing that the warriors this game were doing something that I think fits much better, using motion offense to cause switching to generate mismatches, and THEN running a primary action to generate offense. Hope to see more of this.

You know we going turn that ball over miss a free throw party baby go warriors 👌🏿❤️

Draymond saw Rudy on him and started dribbling like a HOOPER instead of a basketball player 😂

First comment before watching b/c caught up with work but Alch I watched the replay of your live stream last night and you crashing out on fools was hilarious 😂 I couldn't see what was being said in the chat but sometimes you just gotta check someone. Also ik exactly which patron you were talking about too lmaooo

@11:20 this right here is why I dislike Randle's game. NAW has just hit like 3 threes in a row, he's on fire and you need offense in the clutch. Bro is right there next to him, but instead of giving the ball up and setting a screen, Randle decides "nah, Imma do my own thing" and chucks up some bullshit. SWING THE DAMN ROCK MAN
Crimson
Big time win. I've been hearing you about the turnovers in your videos and tweets. I follow another dude on twitter who said that the turnovers just happen to be more of a feature in the offensive system rather than a bug, which I tend to agree with. Even watching games a decade ago, Steph and Dray were turning it over. With that being said, they definitely need to turn it down a notch, because it's also affecting the other guys. The Ws are currently averaging 14.4 TO's a game. If they can get that down to 11 or 12, that'd be a big improvement, but ultimately they're going to happen every night, you just want to see less of it, especially the bone headed ones.

The Podz v. Donte ad lib made me lol 😂

Great things happen when Kuminga plays over 30 minutes.

Steph with the John Witherspoon celebration, lol. YEAH BOYYY

The more I think about it, I think the key to this being a successful, fun season is the players just figuring it out. Yes, Steve also needs to get some things straight, but I don't think some magic trade is going to be the answer, it really just comes down to the guys on the court getting more comfortable, and improving on a personal and a team level. They have to improve their shooting, their passing, their decision making, their screen-setting. We fans want to make miracle trades because it's something we can "game out" and give ourselves the illusion of control over what happens, but let's face it, we don't. That said, if TJD isn't what we really need at the 5, I do seriously think we make a grab for someone like Claxton or at least some other stretch big, and if we want to move Moody or Podz and replace them with basically anyone else at that position, fine, but I have faith in at least Podz to make improvements to his game. We just need someone who can be a backup at the 5 for Kevon who can do the things Kevon can't do, mainly rim protect.
Diego Arch
We beating the rockets at least, then from there I don't mind if we lose
B Master
nah if we're gonna count on beating the grizzlies on a back to back or lose two in a row that's not an option. They have to try to win vs the rockets just for the regular season. The bench can play in the NBA cup finals for all i care.
Carol Huang
Thoughts on the cup game: Agree it's not going to help with keeping everyone locked in, let along playing an extra game. I think it's best to win against the Rockets then pull top guys for some injury reasons vs Mavs/Thunder, but don't know if they can resist going hard against Klay if it comes to that. Punt in a cup game probably also isn't a good look to Adam Silver.
Allison Hendrix
GP2...he was in the zone! Loved to see it!
ItsWhATItIs
Honestly felt like Kuminga was this player from year 2 if given the confidence. I’m very tired of that motion offense. Simple PnR unlocks players like him and makes things simpler. Mix things up and you get the best of every player. Can’t turn every player to a 3 and D player
Maksim Petrushin
Who the f kept howling everytime wolves scored down the stretch lmao
Old Runner
The game audio was louder than your voice I had to lean in lol, I don't wanna lose to Houston either but if it means avoiding that in season tournament gauntlet of playoff teams for now, then I don't mind the loss
Sarcasm 360
Honestly I’d like to lose the rockets game too, just dropped so many already, pull the injury excuses again
Joseph Divina
been waiting for your breakdown all day! definitely worth staying up til 4am for this
Jeffery Rosario
I love when the warriors run a simple pick and roll it just simplifies the offense it make buddy kuminga and the others game easy plus it puts pressure on the defense because of Steph’s gravity
Kenny Bobby
If we get a 5th somehow, loon gets a statue.

I've been waiting for this breakdown!
Sarcasm 360
I now fully trust Kuminga to put shots up and warm up, little more Heild I see hope as well, a bit light on Kyle minutes maybe. Other than that, ZERO lineups that gave me pause, great progress here from Kerr. Kuminga played near the whole third, the “combinations” narrative looked like it took the backseat, 30 minutes or more from the main contributors. I’m happy with the performance.
