With KD out, Kawhi no longer with the team and Derrick White just joining the team as Kawhi's replacement, team USA needed some bodies just for this game. I don't expect them to travel with the team. As for the 3 extra players who got into the game late: #16 is Micah Potter, who plays for the Jazz on a 2-way contract. #17 is Langston Galloway, who spent training camp with the Dubs in 2021. Last played in the NBA in 21-22 with MIL and is currently playing in Lithuania. #18 is Nigel Hayes-Davis. Only played 1 year in the NBA in 17-18 with LAL, TOR, & SAC and has been overseas ever since playing for a few EuroLeague teams. Fun fact about him: in a game this past season with Turkish team Fenerbahçe, he broke the EuroLeague record for most points in a game with 50 points. Doesn't sound like a lot compared to today's NBA, but considering his team averaged only 84.1 last season, it's pretty impressive.

Keep it simple and play defense. If this squad can maintain that philosophy, they should walk away with the gold. In terms of comparing the different Olympic squads throughout history, one thing that cannot be debated is the level of international competition. The international teams are way better now than they ever were 10, 15, 20 years ago.

I appreciate you trying to get both breakdowns in today Alc. Thanks for today's breakdown and I'm looking forward the Dubs SL breakdown tomorrow. As for Team USA, like LeBron said they played like a team that just met 4 days ago, but overall a mixed bag offensively and defensively with Embiid standing out as the worst performer. Their next 2 exhibition games are against Australia and Serbia in Abu Dhabi and it will be interesting to see how they defend other teams that have better chemistry and shooting than Canada.
