I certainly liked this one the most out of the three, I think. Though I did enjoy Bly Manor a fair bit, as well (helps that I'm a fan of the old haunted house thing). The monster wasn't all that scary on full reveal, but it didn't need to be; it was barely more than an animal, really, and the crux of the story comes from what Father Paul chooses to do with what it did to him. Bev Keane was a compellingly repugnant human being, right up to her cowardice in digging in the dirt to escape the sunrise, and Joe really made me sad. I also think that Erin's monologue at the end could have been lifted straight out. It definitely wasn't really needed.

very well-put. he's ALWAYS working something out, trying to win people over, trying to make a case for his worldview, contextualize his own small wants in a larger theology. just fascinating, in-depth stuff.

I was telling / tweeting at Laird Barron about it, and imo apart from Linklater just being exceptional and exceptionally well-cast, I think Father Paul's dialogue works because everything he says is in the service of convincing someone of something, be it another character, the viewer, and / or himself. He's the only character you never dread a monologue from because purpose undergirds it. It helps that Linklater could sell Evian to a fish.
