i feel kinda silly for posting art that i'm basically like, "ehh i don't really like it and i'm probably not going to put it on twitter or whatever"
but hey i mean dvd special features and collector's editions and stuff often include outtakes and home demos and whatever. think of this as being like that! ahaha
i wasn't really leaning in to the angular thing as much and it ended up being kind of awkward. if you're wondering about a timeline, the colored ones i think i made after that asswolf couture one, which isn't very angular
i think my thought process was like, "oh that one's got smooth shapes and stuff, i should do that again" but it just ended up being kind of awkward and hmm, more two dimensional? more at odds with my own style, at least
the pic of sammy on the beach ended up being kind of wonky. i was trying to do the Round thing that doesn't really mesh super well with how i draw. it's funny because obviously i draw a lot of huge butts and thighs and nuts and stuff, but if i try to make everything round and flowy like how normal people draw, it just never works super well
it's a little weird trying to make myself give in more to my true uh, visual vocabulary? because it's a lot more hm, graphic designy? graffiti-ish? than i feel like is okay. like, it makes me feel like i'm worse at art than people who can draw things very accurately with solid realistic anatomy and stuff, despite that not being an explicit goal of mine ahaha
like sometimes i feel like i do sloppy distorted electric guitar music while wistfully looking over at people playing violin and piano skillfully and intricately. it's kind of silly because it's just kind of a different thing entirely. and when i fight the nature of what i do and try to play guitar in my garage punk band more like classical violin it just sounds bad because it's not my thing, despite appreciating it
continuing from that, it'd honestly be a bad idea to try to branch out into classical music more -- it's not really my thing and i'd be starting from scratch doing something i'm not very passionate about and would probably just be more fuel for the lack-of-confidence thing that's the problem in the first place. i think it'd be more productive in the long run making an effort to become more comfortable with the Thing i do

anyway
the vic/hella pic is an idea i'd at least like to revisit later. i haven't paired JUST them up before for some reason. i feel like there's some potential there for getting their dumb llama necks tangled up while fucking. the drawing itself ended up very off-model though and i ended up tripping over myself in an attempt to not give in to drawing like My Style (i.e. more abstract and angular -- see here and here for better examples of My Style)
the tiny chibi candy is just an idea of what sort of proportions i think i want to go for in terms of a 3/4th perspective twin-stick shooter. readable from a distance and as a low res sprite. i've fucked around with blender a fair bit over the years and a low-res sprite render probably wouldn't need an incredible professional quality model. something i've been meaning to get around to
the Flat Vic is just a doodle i did while feeling down ahah. i usually can't do vent art and i'm kind of envious of people who can -- this is probably the closest thing to that i've ever done, and probably the sole example of anything i could even remotely call "vent art"

Your Style is r a d and you should feel the same, i *love* art from people who can pull off the angular deal! ive tried to mimic that many times myself, kind of a reverse deal from you now that i think about it actually, heh... cept i just gave in to the wave of where my hand was taking me ages ago thanks to my lack of willpower, i find it really cool that you were able to hold out trying to do what you did for so long. but you really dont have to! your passion really shines more with the pieces where you let your angular side loose, and you *absolutely* should make those more! thats just my longwinded two cents on the whole thing though, sorry for ramblin.
