Orochimaru No. 2 couldn’t understand it, but he was deeply shaken.
Although his first reaction was to think that the Second Hokage in the main world was actually a woman, he quickly remembered that through Sasuke’s perspective he had already seen the Second Hokage of this world, and she was indeed the same as the one in World No. 2. After all, the Hokage Rock of the Hidden Leaf in the main world was a famous sightseeing spot in the ninja world.
Moreover, the Second Hokage had clearly already died—so why was she alive and kicking outside? And not only that—why had she turned into a girl?
For a moment, Orochimaru No. 2 felt this world was utterly surreal.
The researcher Orochimaru didn’t keep him guessing and directly explained the matter of Heroic Spirit resurrection. Since Orochimaru No. 2 had joined them, and would soon be sent into the genjutsu world for training, there were some things he could be told.
This was also a way to demonstrate their own capabilities—because for someone like Orochimaru No. 2, who pursued immortality, the means to resurrect as a Heroic Spirit was undoubtedly one of the things he longed for.
Of course, to the researcher Orochimaru, the immortality pursued by his “other self” was utterly laughable. The more he studied, the more he understood how ridiculous immortality truly was.
Even the universe itself would eventually reach extinction—how much less a carbon-based lifeform living on a single planet.
The most they could truly pursue was longevity. And for them now, that was not difficult; there were already many ways to achieve a greatly extended life.
As for how to ultimately achieve that goal in the future, there was no need to rush. They had plenty of time to find the most suitable path for both personal and collective longevity.
“In Kei-kun’s words, what we researchers should truly be pursuing is leading an entire civilization to ascend.”
“Whether it’s mechanical ascension, genetic ascension, psionic ascension, or disaster ascension—these are all just methods. The ultimate goal is to have the entire shinobi world’s civilization complete that ultimate leap.”
The researcher Orochimaru said this to his “other self,” having already gone over many concepts that, even on Earth, would belong to the realm of science fiction.
Following Earth’s scientific development, any one of the above ascension methods would require countless years of development and trial and error.
However, for the shinobi world, one path already lay before them—genetic ascension. The Ōtsutsuki clan, who could easily live for tens of thousands of years, traverse the stars with their physical bodies, and whose biology was far beyond normal limits, were perfect material for genetic ascension. And the people of the shinobi world were all naturally suited to this path, as they were already genetically influenced by the Ōtsutsuki. It was a shortcut other civilizations could only dream of.
Uchiha Kei had not told Orochimaru and the others about this. All he had done was guide them and wait for the researchers to discover it themselves. In the main world’s shinobi world, there were no known traces of the Ōtsutsuki, so following the path of Ōtsutsuki genetic ascension would be difficult.
But now that World No. 2 had been connected, and with confirmation from the White Zetsu there that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had created them to resist other Ōtsutsuki, they could be certain of the Ōtsutsuki’s existence in that world.
This also meant the possibility of genetic ascension through the Ōtsutsuki.
So all Uchiha Kei needed to do was continue guiding these researchers, keep advancing the Hidden Leaf in the main world, promote overall civilizational progress, and encourage more researchers to join.
Civilizational ascension was never something a few people could achieve—it required the whole civilization’s effort.
It was achievable. The people capable of leading the shinobi world’s transformation had already been cultivated, increasing from just Minato Namikaze to several more.
With these people working hard, Uchiha Kei believed the chances were good.
Of course, the researcher Orochimaru and the others didn’t know all this. For now, he simply told Orochimaru No. 2 everything he had to say and gave his opinion on the latter’s pursuit of immortality.
Orochimaru No. 2 was deeply shaken. Trusting his “other self,” he didn’t doubt his words.
It was precisely because he didn’t doubt that he realized how absurd his lifelong pursuit of immortality had been.
Even more laughably, his method of soul reincarnation had shredded his own soul, rendering many of the longevity methods the researcher Orochimaru spoke of useless.
For example, methods of extending life through soul enhancement. Or the fact that when the shinobi world’s civilization eventually achieved collective ascension, he might be left behind because his soul wasn’t strong enough to pass the requirements.
This made Orochimaru No. 2 wear a mask of pain. New concepts, new theories, and shocking facts made him feel the agony of having run full speed down the wrong road his entire life.
Then, the researcher Orochimaru began to comfort his “other self,” explaining that while his current state was poor, there were ways to repair it—for example, by recovering all the soul fragments belonging to Orochimaru No. 2 scattered throughout World No. 2. That could at least partially mend the damage.
After that, they could try various methods to repair the soul. In the shinobi world, there were plenty of strange things, and a way could surely be found.
Hearing this, Orochimaru No. 2’s mood was still bad but improved somewhat. After all, having hope was better than having none.
By the end of their talk, the researcher Orochimaru remembered something and said:
“Speaking of which, Kei-kun gave me some new intel from the White Zetsu in your world. It says that your subordinate, Kabuto Yakushi, fell into confusion after your death, unable to find meaning in his existence—then decided to become another you.”
“So he used special means to disassemble the White Snake remains you left behind in that world and implant them into himself. Now, he’s become a strange half-man, half-snake creature, and he plans to go to Ryūchi Cave to learn the Ryūchi Cave Sage Mode you never mastered.”
“If you absorb the parts of him that belong to you, you can recover a bit more. And that kid is also a good assistant. So tomorrow, come with me to your world and bring him back.”
At those words, Orochimaru No. 2’s eyes flashed:
“Kabuto, huh? So that’s what he did after I died? Truly… not surprising. Very well, let’s find him. A man with no goal and no direction for the future—we shall show him the way, hehehe~”
As he spoke, Orochimaru No. 2 stuck out his tongue and began licking his own face like a villain.
Then, he froze—because the researcher Orochimaru was again wearing a complicated expression, the dislike practically radiating from him.
Feeling awkward, Orochimaru No. 2 quickly retracted his tongue:
“Uh, sorry, habit. After so many years, it’s not easy to change…”
The researcher Orochimaru sighed:
“Forget it, let’s not dwell on that. For now, we’ll follow our plan—find Kabuto Yakushi from your world, then recover your soul fragments.”
“When that’s done, we’ll prepare you a body capable of carrying your reincarnated soul, with excellent attributes, long life, and no soul rejection or damage.”
Orochimaru No. 2’s eyes lit up:
“A body like that exists? Whose body is it?”
The researcher Orochimaru shook his head and didn’t elaborate. The suitable vessel hadn’t arrived yet, and Orochimaru No. 2’s soul was too weak for reincarnation right now.
The vessel in question was a White Zetsu.
Since the White Zetsu were now under Uchiha Kei’s command, they were cooperative with experiments. But Orochimaru’s group was still careful—they wouldn’t casually take a White Zetsu’s life.
Even when a White Zetsu had to be sacrificed, they only used rare “Rebel White Zetsu” who stubbornly refused to join the loyalist faction. Such White Zetsu were rare, and when found, they were captured—originally executed internally, but later handed over for research.
The researcher Orochimaru’s group had a few now, but they were all used and damaged—not suitable for Orochimaru No. 2.
By the time Kabuto was found and Orochimaru No. 2’s soul fragments were recovered, a new batch of Rebel White Zetsu should arrive. Then they could pick the best one for him.
And so, their actions began.
At the same time, in World No. 2’s shinobi world, many other events were unfolding—several at once.
Uchiha Kei kept watch over them. But before all that, what he was most focused on was “Uzumaki Kenshin” soon joining the two-person world of “Muzi” and “Radama.” In the main world, this was an unknown major event—one that could determine the shinobi world’s future.
Uchiha Kei was extremely eager for it.
Mainly, he wanted to see Radama’s reaction upon discovering Muzi had a fiancé.
Just thinking about it was exciting.
And then Uchiha Kei saw it—and instantly wanted to spam “man, woman, toad-on-the-beach” memes.
Because when Radama entered the genjutsu game world as usual to meet Muzi, she had brought another person, introducing him as Uzumaki Kenshin, her fiancé.
Uzumaki Kenshin smiled gently and politely greeted “senpai Radama,” thanking him for taking care of Muzi.
At that moment, Radama was silent. Behind his mask, he tried to control his emotions, responding in his usual cold manner.
But in truth, his expression was very colorful—and the desire to cut someone down was obvious.
Although Radama’s feelings for Muzi weren’t romantic, the intensity was no less—containing the longing for a dear friend, the care for a junior, and the cultivation of someone important.
If one had to put it, it was like a stronger version of raising a daughter.
He had been happily spending every day with this “daughter,” watching her grow. Then suddenly, some punk showed up, essentially saying, “Old man, I’ve parked downstairs for her.” How could he stay calm?
The only reason he hadn’t torn Uzumaki Kenshin apart on the spot was that Uchiha Madara could still restrain himself.
What really tested his patience was when Muzi said the three of them should play together today—he almost stormed out then and there.
But Madara felt that if he walked away now, he’d lose—and who knew if the simple-minded Muzi would end up falling for this Uzumaki brat. So he endured.
No way was he letting this Uzumaki kid take Muzi.
Just look at him—was he even 160 cm tall? So thin—obviously not strong. Could someone like this even unlock the Uzumaki clan’s secret techniques?
With that level of strength, how was he worthy of Muzi?
So, masked Madara suppressed his urge to attack and spent the whole time glaring at Uzumaki Kenshin with murder in his eyes.
Naturally, Uzumaki Kenshin sensed Radama’s mood—and it amused him. But he kept his composure, pretending to be an innocent newbie, asking how to play the game.
Radama mocked him at first, thinking he was pathetic—this long into the era and still never having played a genjutsu game? Truly behind the times.
But then Radama couldn’t keep sneering—because Muzi was enthusiastically and warmly teaching Uzumaki Kenshin, hand-on-hand, explaining everything in detail and helping him get familiar with it.
Her lively, energetic demeanor darkened Radama’s mood. Especially since, with no sense of gender boundaries, Muzi was practically glued to Kenshin at times while teaching him, making Radama’s expression grow darker still.
What nearly pushed him into activating his Mangekyō and summoning Susano’o was the occasional meaningful smile Uzumaki Kenshin shot at him—pure provocation.
If not for this being the genjutsu game world, Madara would have crushed his White Zetsu throne to bits.
After enduring the day’s “gaming life,” Madara returned to the real world, face black as the bottom of a pot, and immediately summoned two White Zetsu to investigate Uzumaki Kenshin. This shinobi world’s overbearing CEO wanted all the details now.
And so, the White Zetsu went.
Of course, all the White Zetsu by Madara’s side now belonged to Uchiha Kei’s loyalist faction, so the intel Madara would get was exactly the “set-up” Uchiha Kei wanted him to see.
