Although her grandson-in-law wasn’t exactly a man of singular devotion, Uzumaki Mito’s acceptance level was still very high. After all, her husband, Senju Hashirama—the First Hokage himself—might have appeared to give up having a harem for her alone, fulfilling the rare “one lifetime, one partner” ideal of the feudal era, but the truth behind it could make one’s fists clench in frustration.
What could she do? With Hashirama constantly talking about Uchiha Madara, Mito had often felt that Madara was actually her husband’s real spouse, and she was the third party—the one who wasn’t the true love.
After living through that, and now seeing her husband turn into a woman just to go play with Madara, Mito found Uchiha Kei all the more impressive—having several wives was nothing in comparison.
Of course, she would never say such things out loud. Matters of the younger generation were not for her to meddle in; she would simply offer silent support.
After spending some time with Uzumaki Kushina and Uzumaki Kikyo and sending them off, Mito sought out Uchiha Kei again with a request.
But before stating it, she asked a question:
“Kei-kun, like Nawaki and Hashirama’s disguises, can a woman disguise herself as a man?”
Uchiha Kei paused for a moment before nodding. “Of course. In fact, Kushina uses a male avatar in the genjutsu game to hide her identity.”
Hearing that, Mito nodded with satisfaction and said, “Then, if possible, please create a disguise for me as well.”
She smiled warmly, but her words were enough to make one’s scalp tingle.
“After all, if Hashirama can use a female form to play with Uchiha Madara, then it’s perfectly fitting for me to join them using a male form, isn’t it?”
Uchiha Kei: “…”
He had suspected this might be where she was going, but hearing it confirmed… well, the older generation could really play the game, and without restraint.
Should he support this?
Of course!
This was going to be another round of prime entertainment!
So he gave a perfectly straight-faced suggestion: “Lady Mito, I think your male disguise could come with an added backstory—say, as the fiancé of Lord Hashirama’s disguised ‘Muzi.’”
Mito’s eyes lit up, her look toward him even more approving. “Then I’ll trouble you with it, Kei-kun.”
Kei smiled. “It’s my honor to be of service.”
His tone was impeccably polite—like a perfect butler—because entertainment this good was rare, and the better he served, the more fun he could witness.
He pulled up a list of male avatar designs, asking if she had any preferences.
Seeing so many handsome faces, each with their own style, Mito couldn’t help but glance a little longer—purely for aesthetic appreciation, of course.
Her requests were clear: keep the Uzumaki trademark red hair, no overly bulky or wild build, and good-looking above all.
Kei understood, filtering out any that didn’t match, and finally presenting a selection of red-haired heartthrobs.
In the end, Mito chose a red-haired youth under 1.6 meters tall, with a refined face, a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek, and a carefree single ponytail.
The avatar came from a classic anime series—the protagonist, Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin.
Kei was a little surprised by the choice, expecting she might pick something else given the wide range of red-haired male characters, both from popular media and original creations.
Mito simply explained that the look suited Hashirama’s “Muzi” persona.
Kei immediately understood. “Muzi” looked like a fourteen-year-old petite girl—though Hashirama had set the character’s age to eighteen, she could not grow any further.
Himura Kenshin appeared like a middle-school-aged boy but, in his original story, was already an adult—a classic youthful, ageless man. His height would match “Muzi” well.
Calling him “Muzi’s fiancé” would be perfectly believable.
Mito had even decided on a name—knowing the original was Himura Kenshin, she renamed the avatar Uzumaki Kenshin, with the backstory of being a hidden survivor of the Uzumaki clan, secretly adopted and trained by the Hidden Leaf.
Her plan was set: she would use this avatar to wedge herself between “Radama” and “Muzi.”
Of course, she could also turn it around and say Radama was the third wheel.
In the genjutsu world, once the disguise was on, she could do as she pleased—that was Mito’s newfound philosophy, learned from the shock of watching Nawaki and Hashirama play in the game.
With the setup done and Kei dismissed to his own business, Mito waited.
By evening, Senju Tobirama “logged in.” On hearing the news, he came to see his sister-in-law.
He didn’t act coy like Tsunade, but greeted her with a smile, expressing genuine happiness at her return, and after a brief chat, went off to his own affairs—true to his swift and efficient style.
Mito was used to it. She had spent plenty of time with Tobirama in the past and knew his character well.
Seeing him still vigorous and pursuing his own goals pleased her greatly.
She had no idea, of course, that Tobirama also ran around under a female avatar in the game—something that would surely bring mixed feelings.
Later that night, after seeing Tsunade, Kushina, and the others again, Mito finally watched Nawaki return from playing.
On seeing her, Nawaki froze, then burst into tears of joy, immediately reverting to his childhood habit of clinging to his grandmother. She had doted on him most when he was small, and now, reunited with her after her death, his emotions overflowed.
Though her youthful appearance surprised him, she was still his grandmother—nothing could change that bond.
Mito felt a pang of emotion, then chose not to mention his female avatar.
He had died so young. Even revived as a heroic spirit, he was different from the truly living. As long as he was happy, there was no harm in playing a woman in the game.
Unaware she already knew, Nawaki excitedly told her about his life, the fun he’d had with new friends, and how the game had sharpened his combat skills and battle sense.
This only deepened Mito’s sense of pity—and her resolve to pile all her unspoken complaints onto Hashirama instead.
And Hashirama still hadn’t returned.
She felt like a wife at home, waiting for her wayward husband to return—her anger slowly simmering to dangerous levels.
Finally, accompanied by bright, carefree laughter, Hashirama returned well past midnight.
In the physical world, such late-night noise would disturb the peace, but in the networked world, everyone could choose their own return location. Hashirama went straight home to rest.
But because Kei had given Mito access privileges, she was there when he arrived.
His laughter stopped dead as he stared at Mito, seated in perfect Yamato nadeshiko posture.
The room was dark, lit only by moonlight slanting across her figure—half in light, half in shadow, sharp contrast adding to the pressure he felt.
Cold sweat broke out instantly, an instinctive fear engraved in his DNA. It was the same scene he had faced long ago when he came home late after drinking with Madara.
Time itself seemed to twist, throwing him back into the past.
“Uh… ah, Mito, you… you’re still up? Ahaha, I… I wasn’t out drinking with Madara, really, not this time, I—”
Then he froze, eyes going wide. “Wait, Mito?! Why are you here? Am I dreaming? No, this… what’s going on?”
Utterly bewildered, Hashirama stared at her.
Mito smiled faintly. “It’s nothing. Like the others, Kei-kun revived me.”
Realization dawned on him—but so did a spike of dread. That smile… it was the one she always wore right before losing her temper.
Fear, hardwired into him.
Forcing a stiff smile, he said, “Uh, Mito, welcome back. Ahaha… when… when were you revived?”
“Earlier today,” she replied, still smiling. “I’ve seen everyone. They’re all doing well, and I’m very happy.”
Cold sweat poured down his face. Revived in the morning, yet he was only seeing her now—how to explain that?
Come on, great genius brain, think of something!
With a forced laugh, he apologized, saying he’d been busy all day and was sorry to keep her waiting.
“There’s no need to apologize,” Mito said softly. “After all, you had a wonderful time as ‘Muzi’ with Uchiha Madara, didn’t you? Seeing you so energetic and smiling so happily—I’m happy too.”
Still smiling—but her words made the sweat run in streams, his body freezing, his mind shutting down.
Every instinct screamed: disaster imminent.
Then Mito rose, stepping toward him with elegant poise. “I must say, Hashirama, you have good taste. That ‘Muzi’ avatar is quite cute, even in my eyes. So, transform into ‘Muzi’ now—let me have a good look.”
Hashirama didn’t understand why she made such a request, but the danger in his gut told him it would lead somewhere he didn’t want to go.
Could he refuse?
Of course not.
So, with a strained laugh, he complied—miserably—transforming into “Muzi.”
