【Kevin vs. Kevin? You’re pulling out the big guns next chapter?】
【You’re all focused on Kevin, but I’m the only one looking at the background of the two Kevins? Isn’t that the place where Siegfried was held?】
【It really does look like the place where Siegfried was imprisoned.】
【Is Siegfried about to break free? Father-daughter reunion next chapter?!】
“‘Mr. Otto,’ why are there two Kevins?”
Elysia couldn’t hold it in any longer.
She didn’t even bother addressing how Pardofelis secretly dubbed for Hokuto again—such an obvious act of helping the villain do evil.
Pardofelis: I couldn’t help it, Hokuto paid way too much.
Back to the main point.
When Hokuto heard Elysia’s question, he hesitated slightly.
“Hmm……”
“Don’t tell me you can’t give spoilers—no matter what, you have to reveal something useful today.”
“......Alright.”
Hokuto thought for a moment and gave a tiny bit of what he could reveal.
“Actually, one of these Kevins is indeed the real Kevin. As for the other one…… it’s hard to say, but it’s definitely not the Kevin from the Flame-Chasers, not the memory version from the Elysian Realm……”
At this point, he trailed off with a deliberately vague expression.
So in the end, he really only revealed a tiny bit.
“That’s it?” Elysia pressed.
“For more information, you’ll have to wait until the next story update officially goes live and discover it yourselves.”
Hokuto gave a very official, formulaic response.
Elysia: “......”
“Hmph, if you won’t say it, I’ll just guess myself.”
She crossed her arms and wore a thoughtful expression.
A moment later—
“Could it be… Kevin from another bubble universe?”
“Hmm…… In Chapter 28’s main story, the one Durandal experienced in the Stigmata space—the Stigmata Will there also simulated other people……”
Honestly, seeing Elysia analyze everything so fluently now…
It made one recall her “naïve” early days.
For example, how she got baited by 【Spectacular】 multiple times.
And 【No big deal】, 【Nothing to be afraid of】, 【I’m out of tissue】.
……
It really felt like things had changed with time.
Then again, that couldn’t be helped—once you enter Honkai Impact 3rd, changes are inevitable.
Like developing “Wraith Syndrome” or something…
Cough cough.
Back on topic.
The now “matured” Elysia was still seriously analyzing.
“So, could the other Kevin be a manifestation of the Stigmata Will? After all, Kevin is about to initiate the Stigmata Plan, and the return of the Stigmata Will would seem pretty logical……”
“It’s just…… no idea why the two of them look so ready to fight……”
As she spoke, she looked at Hokuto, trying to read his reaction.
Unfortunately, Hokuto was wearing a mask now, so her efforts were futile.
Instead, Hokuto adjusted his mask, lowered his voice naturally, and deliberately imitated a certain someone.
Playing a little joke—
“You are not yet qualified to know this, Elysia.”
Elysia: ???
Kevin: 6
“‘Mr. Otto,’ why are you speaking like Kevin?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Elysia: “......”
“As expected, when it comes to discussing future plotlines, ‘Mr. Otto’ still loves to be cryptic.”
“I can’t help it. When it comes to the main story, that’s as far as I can go.” Hokuto shrugged. “Some things I really can’t say more about.”
“Alright then. Since ‘Mr. Otto’ doesn’t want to say more about the main story, I’ll talk about something else……”
Elysia, already familiar with Hokuto, knew that pressing further wouldn’t get her anywhere.
So she gave up and changed the subject.
“By usual pattern, Honkai Impact 3rd probably won’t update the new main story right away, but will have some event story first, right?”
“That’s indeed the plan.”
This time, Hokuto gave a straightforward answer without dodging.
“Elysia, did you forget that the residents of the Golden Courtyard are still surviving on that island?”
“You mean……?”
Elysia realized something.
Hokuto answered plainly: “Next, we’ll update Summer Survival Rhapsody: Side 13.”
“Side 13?”
Elysia latched onto the key word immediately. “Wait, why is it called Side 13 instead of Side B?”
“Well……”
Before Hokuto could answer, the livestream chat had already impatiently filled in the blanks:
【Because Side B saw the script and broke down.】
【Why Side 13? Because the writer split Side B clean in two.】
【This seamless slicing technique… this is MiHoYo, this is Honkai Impact 3rd, no doubt about it.】
【Hidden blade technique.】
“Huh?!”
Seeing the barrage explanation, Elysia was first surprised—
Then nodded in agreement.
“As expected of ‘Mr. Otto’……”
Hokuto: “......?”
Even though the chat’s interpretation sounded reasonable, that really wasn’t his intention this time.
“No, you guys seriously interpreted ‘13’ as a knife? Doesn’t ‘thirteen sides for thirteen Flame-Chasers’ sound romantic?”
“Such a sunny, beautiful design…… is there really a need to interpret it like that?”
【Romantic? Writer, you better really mean it.】
【“Especially Romantic Death”】
【Thirteen Flame-Chasers, thirteen sides. Translation: no reunions, each goes their separate way.】
【Sunshine and beauty. I believe you (serious face).】
The chat clearly didn’t believe Hokuto’s words—
Whether they were joking or not, their skepticism was evident.
After all, the past was still fresh in their memories.
If you can believe one out of ten lines from a writer, that’s already generous.
“Hmm……”
Elysia blinked thoughtfully. “It does sound like it could be justified.”
“It was designed that way from the start—how is that ‘justified’?”
Hokuto couldn’t help but add one more explanation.
“Mm-mm, fine, let’s say it was designed that way.”
“......”
Prejudice is like a mountain in people’s hearts!
Hokuto sighed internally: “Elysia, what changed you into the way you are now?”
“？”
Elysia raised an eyebrow and gave him a look of amused suspicion.
“Is that even a question?”
“Hmm……”
Hokuto instantly realized what she meant.
And the chat was even faster than him.
【It must’ve been MiHoYo!! Hrrrr!!】
【Honkai Impact 3rd turns people into wraiths.】
【Hearing this from someone in the stream just feels especially ironic.】
【How do you have the nerve to say that out loud? (angry)】
【Writer! Shouldn’t you first ask yourself how you wrote such icy scripts with 36°C hands?】
【The Honkai scriptwriter must’ve gone through some psychological trauma, right?】
Hokuto: “......”
“Let’s get back to our healthy, sunny, positive event, shall we.”
He clumsily changed the subject.
“This event will have a total of three chapters. As the story progresses, more Flame-Chasers will appear.”
Hokuto carried on: “Mm…… I believe the Side A story already left a strong impression on players.”
“Whether it was Chef Kalpas cooking, or Kevin getting stuck in…… stuff.”
Hearing that, the barrage comments began to shift tone—
After all, that scene was too meme-worthy.
【Kevin: cool (blue font)】
【Everything, stuck.】
【Su: Coconut tree, my coconut tree.】
【This event made me realize I underestimated the writer’s trolling power.】
“Hmm……”
“Seems like I haven’t told you guys yet—this time’s event script was actually written by Miss Fairy.”
Hokuto, seeing the chat, decided to leak a little secret.
He then smiled and asked Elysia, “Seeing so many people enjoying your script, you must be very happy, right?”
“Of course I’m super happy~~”
Elysia nodded with a radiant smile.
【So this time’s event script was by Miss Fairy?】
【No wonder. I was wondering how someone could write such a joyful story.】
【When it comes to chaotic creativity, Miss Fairy is still top tier.】
【Honestly, knowing the script is by Miss Fairy, I can finally relax about not getting stabbed mid-event.】
Hokuto: “......”
Is that really necessary?
He thought to himself.
If players could hear Hokuto’s thoughts right now, they’d probably reply:
“Of course it’s necessary! Just look at the Elysian Realm plot…… have some self-awareness.”
Of course, the players didn’t know what Hokuto was thinking.
Hokuto, meanwhile, finished his internal monologue and lightly shook his head.
Forget it.
Speaking of something else—
“Come to think of it, last time in Summer Survival Rhapsody, besides the story being memorable, there’s something else I think everyone remembers too?”
“Something else?” Elysia blinked. “What is it… oh, you mean my……”
“Mm, that’s right.”
Hokuto nodded and didn’t beat around the bush.
“I mean your short film, Elysia. Once Summer Survival Rhapsody: Side 13 goes live, you can release the second half you filmed earlier.”
“I thought so……”
Elysia looked unsurprised.
Hokuto, seeing this, gave a small explanation.
“After all, you prepared it so carefully. It’d be a shame not to release it.”
“Besides, I think your short film turned out pretty well.”
“Oh?”
Elysia looked a bit surprised.
“‘Mr. Otto’ thinks so? I thought you’d look down on a short film made by an amateur like me.”
“Of course not……”
Hokuto shook his head, then chuckled lightly:
“Actually, I think you’ve got real talent for this kind of thing, Elysia.”
“If you’re interested, shoot a few more short films—I’m sure everyone would love that.”
He said this while glancing at the projection screen in the livestream room.
Elysia followed his gaze.
On the projection screen, barrage comments were already flying:
【We’re getting another short film with this event? I’m blessed.jpg】
【Feeling cool~~】
【Give us more, give us more. Even if the Realm has ended, I still hope the Flame-Chasers never take their final bow.】
【May the Golden Courtyard forever remain in Honkai Impact 3rd.】
“See.”
Hokuto said to Elysia: “Everyone loves it.”
“Mmm~♪”
Elysia responded.
Then, tilting her head slightly, she thought aloud:
“Suddenly, I feel a strong urge to start planning my next story.”
“I can definitely relate to that feeling, Elysia.”
Hokuto’s voice carried a hint of a smile.
“Seeing everyone love a story you created with your own hands—it’s a wonderful feeling.”
At this point, he paused slightly.
His eyes beneath the mask narrowed ever so slightly.
On the surface, he casually added:
“Actually, I also have some ideas for the Golden Courtyard’s future story……”
“For example, what if its residents encountered Kiana and the others in that world too……”
“Oh?!”
Elysia’s eyes lit up. “That’s great! Just imagining it sounds so fun.”
“Right……”
And so, Hokuto shared his thoughts with Elysia—
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight points.
As for whether some personal “biases” were subtly embedded in those ideas?
Well of course… it’s not like there weren’t any.
Only—
The earnestly listening Elysia didn’t notice the “danger” at all.
……
Time passed quietly like this.
Unknowingly, even the sky had darkened.
The livestream was finally about to end.
“Alright, that’s it for today’s stream.”
Hokuto gave his closing line, ready to end the stream.
The chat lit up with farewell comments.
【Great job.】
【Thanks for keeping us company. See you next time.】
【Bye-bye.】 ×n
But……
Something unexpected seemed to have happened?
The stream, which was supposed to close, suddenly flickered strangely.
Green stripes surged across the screen—like it was being corrupted.
【???】 ×n
The farewell spam vanished instantly, replaced by a wall of question marks.
【What’s happening? Is this a corruption invasion?】
【Thanks a lot. Now I’ve got PTSD.】
“？”
Elysia’s first reaction was to look at Hokuto.
She cautiously asked: “Is this…… a surprise exit effect from ‘Mr. Otto’?”
Hokuto: “......”
He stayed quiet for a moment, then shook his head.
“No, it’s not from me.”
“Then…… what is it?” Elysia blinked in hesitation.
“Elysia, it seems like… there are a lot fewer people outside.”
Hokuto turned to look outside, observed for a moment, then said—
