Elysia blinked as the live chat suddenly exploded with new messages.
Among them, one viewer hoped their future child could experience this story too.
Elysia figured it must have been heartfelt. They must really love this story.
After all...
She also thought this story truly... carried a certain kind of power.
To want to share it with their children—perhaps that was the highest praise one could give this romantic tale and the strength within it.
“Seeing everyone still loving Honkai Impact 3rd as much as ever really makes me happy.”
It was Hokuto’s voice.
“But, Miss Fairy might be a little tired right now, so... maybe let’s hold off on the animated short for a bit—”
“I’m not tired at all.”
Before Hokuto could finish, Elysia interjected.
“I think you must be tired.”
“But I really am not. I really want to see the short right away.”
“……”
“Elysia, are you sure you don’t want a little break?” Hokuto asked again.
“?”
Now Elysia finally hesitated.
Was something big going to happen in the short?
Hmm…
In general, Honkai Impact 3rd animated shorts tended to fall into two categories.
One: like Final Lesson and Thus Spoke Apocalypse—not just closing chapters, but paradigm shifts in the story.
Two: like Everlasting Flames, where the emotional climax had already passed, and the short served as a beautiful ending.
The first type? Easily caught players off guard and emotionally destroyed them.
Indeed, Final Lesson, Thus Spoke Apocalypse... had hit countless players right in the heart.
The second type brought a sense of fulfillment.
Elysia assumed the Elysian Realm-themed short must be the second kind.
After all, based on the lines she recorded… this short definitely wasn’t going for a Thus Spoke Apocalypse-style impact.
Fun fact—when she recorded the lines, she hadn’t seen any finished visuals. What she saw were... stick figures.
Yeah.
Just…
Elysia being bound by the Herrscher of Corruption = a stick figure surrounded by black squiggles.
Something like that.
Very abstract.
cough Anyway, back on topic.
Elysia pondered for a while, then asked with slight hesitation:
“Is there something... special about this short?”
“Special? It’s long? Does that count?” Hokuto replied.
“Long?” Elysia blinked. Then boldly guessed, “Twenty-four minutes?”
“???”
Hokuto froze, then grumbled, “Why not just say it’s a full hour? A Honkai movie?”
“If ‘Mr. Otto’ is willing, I’m sure everyone would love to spend an hour watching.”
Elysia fired back without skipping a beat.
“……”
cough cough
Hokuto cleared his throat and tried a different angle:
“Let’s give players who aren’t watching the stream, and are going through the story at their own pace, a little more time.”
“What do you think, Elysia?”
As for what he really thought?
He couldn’t just say: the aftermath is heavy—if you don’t take a break now, you won’t be able to hold it together later.
“That makes sense,” Elysia nodded gently. “Then… yes, it’s better to wait a bit for everyone.”
So, Elysia and Hokuto temporarily stepped away from the stream for a short break.
Kiana and the others took over to interact with the audience with some light segments.
……
Meanwhile, during the intermission, a portion of the viewers trickled into the official forums.
Which suddenly grew livelier with new threads and hot takes.
For example…
[This story is so sweet—if anyone dares say otherwise, I’ll challenge them to a 1v1 IRL.]
[I lost it halfway through the story. I’m out of tissues. Anyone wanna donate?]
[Reuse your tissues, bro. (doge face)]
[Kevin (slurping noodles): Ah, Mei you’re back—what happened to Elysian Realm?]
[Mei: On the scorched earth, I made a promise to her—to everyone—that no matter the cost, humanity will defeat the Honkai.]
Naturally, aside from the usual emotional venting—
The real buzz came from threads that sparked discussion.
Like this one:
[Predicting Kiana’s Ending Based on the Elysian Realm Storyline]
Posted by: One Ship Only (OP)
TL;DR—After finishing the Elysian Realm storyline, I feel incredibly stirred, but also uneasy about what’s to come.
I get the feeling Kiana’s ending won’t be happy.
Reason 1. ……
Reason 2. ……
And at the end:
MiHoYo better drop the short ASAP. I cannot exist in this short-less world another second.
[MiHoYo Is So Cruel (2nd reply)]
First, +1 to “release the short.”
Second… If, after all this effort, the story still ends in tragedy, I’ll be disappointed.
I believe Honkai Impact 3rd is a beautiful story.
[Brain Buster (3rd reply)]
You really believe all that “bright, healthy, positive” stuff?
cough Okay, enough memes.
Honestly, yes, it’ll be beautiful—but the kind of beauty… is up for debate.
Elysian Realm’s story was beautiful too, but look how that ended: with Elysian Realm gone.
[Captain of Theresa’s Fleet (4th reply)]
Objection!! I, for one, do believe Honkai is a bright, healthy, and positive game.
(Side note: MiHoYo please give Theresa her own short already. Running out of time here.)
[Fighting for the Good in the World (5th reply)]
Everyone calm down. Here’s a joke.
Know why Kevin never gets off his throne?
Because he thinks it’s cool.
This cold joke immediately silenced all the eager debaters who had just opened the thread to reply.
A dozen or so floors of “……” followed before the discussion resumed.
Though… it didn’t last long either.
Not because someone dropped another bomb.
But because—
[MiHoYo Is So Cruel (n-th reply)]
Fairy’s back. Looks like the short is about to start. I’m out.
***: Same here. Let’s go. n
